Before: a $20 Huffy Sea Trails from Craigslist:

After stripping, cleaning, replacing parts from another $20 Craigslist donor and repainting:

These are all pics from my cell phone. I think I'll take pics with a real camera for the voting.

This was my first time using the oil-based Sharpie markers. I think I did okay with the patters I pinstriped, but I know my lines are all wibbly and amateur. Which is ok, because I'm an amateur, lol.

Congrats on finishing.
Pin striping isn't easy,so I'd say not bad for your first attempt.

Congrats on finishing, huge improvement on the before pic! Love it!

Luke.
Thanks, Luke!

Thanks, Falstaff! I've been reading up on technique, and how to lay out and do a proper design. I see now how straight lines on a curved tube are hard.

Just a pointer. if you can get some eighth inch masking tape from hobby lobby or Joann fabrics, it's very useful for learning.
You can lay out simple patterns and follow the lines to figure out brush angle and how to rest your and and fingers to pull solid lines.
Pretty sure it would work well with sharpie too.

Congrats!

Nice.. actually i adore pin striping and all that galligraphy stuff. Good job.

Love this bike, reminds me of my Huffy Wild Wood :)

Welcome to the Finished bike thread! Glad you tried the pinstriping ....that's what these builds are about, stretching our creativity and our skills. I especially like the name of the bike, and a cool color combo as well! :D

Photos in morning light with the good camera...

Paint:
Dupli-Color "Perfect Match" -- General Motors Bahama Blue
Krylon satin black
Dupli-Color clear gloss lacquer
Sharpie oil-based paint marker, medium and fine point

Shimano Type F 3-speed hub
26" x 1-3/8" wheels/tires

Photos taken with our old Nikon 5700 5mp camera. It's not a DSLR and not a point'n shoot -- one of those mid-range cameras.

I'm liking all of the controls at your finger tips.
Otherwise known as "as it came from Huffy." :21:

Actually, I wanted to put the shifter on a frame tube, but the bracket wouldn't reach around the larger tube and I didn't want to cut it up.

Thanks!

A fine pointed paint pen might cover your wobbles. Try placing your elbow and forarm on a stable surface and only move your wrist to stripe. Keep practicing ")
