I got this badly damaged 47 Columbia frame awhile ago, and with a horribly bent rear triangle now relatively straight with torch and bending work.. It is interesting because of the reverse dropouts w/o micro adjusters. It sports a 5/8th" post and came with the headset cups and seatpost bolt...

I'm thinkin the wester flyer twinspring fork stripped to bare metal, running the skip-drive sprocket
crankset/sachs driegang 3spd coaster/Schwinn script front hub/a prewar seat of some sort with fresh leather, and a superlight wheel build w/cr18's 36hole/db wheelsmiths/dt red alloy nips/high pressure bontrager hank 2.35's... I like the Shelby flyer bars shown, and will run the hercumatic shifter with the 511 rear hub....parts i'm thinkin shown below...stay posted and shoot me some ideas.....I may leave the frame as you see it with some more tweaks....

So there you go...
Got it riding today...
I will put another 2.4" continental on the back and call it my gravel road
buster....I am happy to bring back another lost American frame. My style stays
pretty much the same bike to bike... Starting with pre and post war steel frames, mostly balloon style, I'll add a springer or truss fork from the period....from there, I look at the combo and imagine a 3spd skip drive build!!! THIS is the silverkings'
m.o. I first build up a nice wheelset with a three speed internal gear hub (with coaster brake) and a lightweight rim and tire combo. This bike used mostly recycled butted ss spokes I had in bike boxes, a new front Ringle 28-hole hub with the Sachs 515 rear. I had the old chainguard laying around, as well as the good solid crankset with perfect races, an early Shelby handlebar, Hercumatic shifter, and old style grips. The seat comes from another bike but will stay with this one
I must say this frame is my favorite look with what is left of the original reddish
purple paint,

rubbed steel patina, chips and rust marks.. Strange frame w/o the micro adjusters. This frame had poor alignment between the head tube and the top tubes: seemed to be welded right of center when looking down on the frame head tube.....the rear was a mess when starting this...a lot of work to get it straight and in somewhat of a rideable alignment.. Again, here is the finished rider taken today post ride....ciao!!!
