Just wanted to drop a line to the Portlandians that I'm headed your way for the next few weeks and will be looking for bike related things to do. Good local food and drink is high on my list as well!
I'll be staying right downtown at a bike hostel, interested in things I should see and do whilst there. Any bike events going on? Shows? Rides? Museums? Collections?

I'm headed there via plane so I need to come up w/ a bike to ride whilst there also. (the place I'm staying has secure bike storage)

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I lived in Portland for a year. I think it was 1996. Great town. Lots to do. You need to hit up one of the McMenamins Pubs. They have lots of bicycle frendly locations. They have great burgers. I ate there every chance I could. http://www.mcmenamins.com/ Go check out the waterfront too. Lots of nice shops too. I'd just sit and watch the people (pretty girls) go by.

Hey, welcome to town ~ make SURE you get to Missing Link on Sandy Blvd. tues-sat. Ask for Nick. BEST place in town for old bikes. The owner has a collection he keeps there. They have a tuesday old cruiser ride at 7pm. Nick is also big into Zoo Bombering. Here he is in an interview. They loan out bikes for the ride. PM me when you get to town. I have bounced in town for years and years so I know the night scene real well and can direct you to some fun spots.
