Just a few days of sitting in the shop left a light coating of flash humidity rust on the frame and parts. No worries, I still needed both the 140 and 220 hand sanding on the frame anyway.

You probably can't see it, here is the frame with the flash rust.

Hand sanded the entire frame. I had thought about the paint scheme being Coppertone and Clear Raw Steel, but then I remember that I did paint and raw steel last year on Western Sizzler. I am going with Coppertone and Metallic Silver this year.

Here is the frame after the hand sanding and prep for primer in my urban paint booth. I used filler primer because that was the only gray primer I had on hand. Some spots on the frame will probably benefit from it anyway. I forgot to take a pic of the primed frame.

I had to go on a Home Depot run, so I picked up some regular automotive gray primer for the other parts.

While I was out, the faux leather jacket was delivered at my office, so I swung over to get it. This is gonna be fun!!!! I love the color and aged vibe of this jacket.

The stripes are the perfect scale for the seat. and the sleeve is more than enough material.

I slid the nanner into the sleeve and did a very rough test fit. PERFECT!!!

Cut one of the sleeves off of the jacket today and did a rough test fitting over the existing seat. This should work well.

I believe this is my first bicycle seat recover. I just picked up some of the big paper clips cuz I think I saw someone else use them. :D

Hit a few missed primer spots on the frame this morning.

Finished taking apart the front forks and sanded them down for paint. I also still needed to seat the star nut into the threadless steer tube. I had never done this before, so I watched a youtube where a guy bolted a narrow deep well socket to the star nut and used it as a driver. It worked perfectly with just a few light whacks with the hammer. Used the ring on the socket as a depth gauge since this was right at 12mm which was close to what the norm is.

Got the fork legs and rockers primed and hanging on my yard sale towel bars (which have been awesome for paint drying over many build offs).

Road around to Target, Michaels, Joann Fabrics, and finally Walmart looking for the right high density padding to use for padding on the nanner. @Dr. Tankenstein had told me that he had used yoga mats before.

The first one I found was way to thin even though I could have layered it up.

But I think this exercise mat from wally world will work just fine and still have plenty of mat left for my Pilates. :D

And it's official: I can now take credit for inspiring the temporary seat cover attachment on this bike!

I wish I could give you credit, but I've seen these clips used by many people for years :D

If you have a carpet store close, carpet padding works great for seats. Able to be glued together and carved with an electric carving knife.

I USUALLY USE THE STADIUM SEAT CUSHIONS THAT ARE MADE OF FOAM. THEY ARE SUPER BOUNCY AND COMFORTABLE.

I almost got a couple of those until I found the mat.
