just picked this up unexpectedly from a friend yesterday. not sure what it's from, but I'm thinking it definitely needs to be part of my build.

Here are the rules for RRB Build Off #14.

Class 1: Traditional Builds
This class is for builds using a factory manufactured frame and forks. Very minor modifications are acceptable like adding brackets, grinding off tabs, etc. This is more of an old school build category created for folks who may not have pro level fab and welding skills. If it appears that you're frame modifications are too extensive you may be asked to move to Class 2.

Class 2: Anything Goes
This class has no restrictions on frames and forks. Can be completely fabricated from scratch or heavily modified factory frames...feel free to go crazy!

1. Cannot have started build before May 1st, 2019.
2. You can only enter one bike per class in the build off (can change bikes once if needed)
3. Start a new post and use the bike name as the post "Subject/Title." Keep a running journal in your thread about your build.
4. Must include before, progress, and finished photos (all in one thread please)
5. Bike must be rideable and pedal powered.
6. Finished bike photos must be posted in the "Finished Bikes" thread by 9:00 p.m. CT on Monday, September 9th, 2019.
8. Any questions about the build off must be submitted in the discussion section.
9. Please be courteous to others and do not fill their build journals with off-topic posts. If it continues after a moderator warning, your account will be nuked.

This whole competition is all in good fun. The whole point is to be creative, build something cool and have fun!

They sound really good when I read them with Morgan Freeman's voice in my mind. Not so good with Roseanne Barr reading them.

Just sayin'.

Rules sound good to me. My potential projects are Class 1 for sure.
I keep playing with the idea of getting some welding equipment. I just don’t have a safe place to do the work. And our local code nazi would shut me down anyway.

I was secretly hoping to get one build in Class 1 and two builds into Class 2, but probably better this way, stop me over extending myself... :whew:
 
@Rat Rod , sounds good, and you might want to change #3 to read "Start a new thread" instead of "post".

Got the 'waitin for the build off blues' here! :21:

Rules are fine...
Do the stock forks have to be from the same frame?
(never mind, I'll just jump into class two...)
Why the extra 9 days into September? (just curious)

Out of interest, which class would something like Falstaffs Ratillac fit into? Basic frame/fork but a lot of fabrication style work in add ons. What if he had made the fibreglass kit from scratch, would that change it?

Current plan is dressing up a basic frame with a fair in kit of sorts, custom if necessary.

My interpretation of the classes is Class 1 is 'bolt on', and Class 2 is 'cut and weld' or 'scratch built'.

So if t you don't cut or weld the 'skeleton' of the bike (frame / fork), or build from the ground up, then you are in Class 1.

I added some bold and underline to one word in RatRod's post there that should answer your question.

Basically if you are hacking/chopping/welding the frame of the bike, you should be in Class 2.
(Aside from minor trimming to remove chain guard tabs, trimming a little off the seat clamp area to get the seat closer to the frame, that sort of minor thing.)

Adding bolt on stuff/fiberglass/aluminium foil/cling wrap/toilet paper/old vacuum cleaner parts/shower heads/playing cards/perspex etc. is all good in Class 1, and in fact most of them have been done in the past.
