I picked up this 1966 stingray today and figured I might as well join the build off. Plans are basic and it will be a ratty rider. I think most of the chrome should actually clean up pretty good. The pans on the seat might be toast, it’s a mixture of foam, twine, and various kinds of tape. I’m kind of bummed that the ape hangers aren’t there.

The seat was pretty much as expected. Turns out duct tape and foam is a great way to make a seat pan disappear, lol.

Better news on the chrome. This was the worst part of the rear rim, and just a few minutes with chrome polish and fine steel wool. There is some plating loss, but it will clean up much better. When I started there was no chrome to be seen.

You were right as guessing the seat would be toast. It even has the same color and texture. That little bike will thank you for saving it.

Put the tape and foam back on and you could call it "Don't Tell Mummy". Halloween was only a week ago.

Good to see you back in the MBBO, @kram !
