We had some pretty tight competition in the 11th Annual Rat Rod Bikes Build Off, but in the end there was one winner….”Elgin Decoluxe” built by forum member Jim Henderson of TRM Convertible Tanks. As always, Jim is meticulous when it comes to all aspects of his builds. Whether it’s the vision for the bike, the fabrication or the documentation of the build, Jim always puts every ounce of his being into his creations and it really pays off.
Here’s what Jim started with….yes really.
Jim is the owner of TRM Convertible Tanks which specializes in building a custom molded Spaceliner tanks that can convert a ladies bike into a men’s bike. He’s used one of his tanks on his last two build off entries and we even wrote a story a few months ago about his tanks and how they are made. There were also a couple of other entries in this year’s build off that included his tank.
Jim had many people following his build journal during the competition and there was always great anticipation in waiting for his next entry. It’s always fun to see what new idea he came up with next and everyone loves the innovative thinking that goes into his bikes. Some of this innovation has led to inspiration for future products that may show up soon.
He had some tough competition this year by beating out the next three bikes in line that all used Mooneyes Moon Disc wheel covers. There’s just something about those discs on a bike that gets everyone’s attention. Fortunately for Jim, enough forum members cast their votes his way and he managed to come out on top!
We look forward to seeing what new builds and products Jim comes up with in the future! Click here to see his full build journal.
