New School "moving to finished"Re: New School "plumbing"the spacer is supposed to snug up with the bearings, they spacers keeps the bearings from being pinched. if the spacer isnt "snug" with the other cup installed it will just rattle around lose in there. If thats how it is, just dont tighten the cranks completely, but i would put some of that blue loctite on the crank bolts to keep them in place. I like kingfish's suggestion though for the best solve on the routing.
Re: New School "plumbing"
Something long them lines is what I my end up doing. First I will put it together and spin it to see if it's rubbing. .
Re: New School "plumbing"How about cutting a piece of steel, copper or aluminim tubing about 5-6" long that fits over the cable and fish it through both sides of the crank tube. Then give it a slight bend to keep it away from the crank? Or you could get a solar panels that charges your smart phone that has a clapper switch app that when your teeth chatter so loudly ( because of panic mode) that it senses a clap so it sends a signal to A two way high frequency radio that sends a 3 milliamp signal to a relay that activates a 300oz servo and pulls the second half of your brake cable that you had to cut off because my first idea didnt seem like such a good idea at the time?

Re: New School "plumbing"i got a great anonymous tip to place a second spacer over it slightly larger so it will allow the first one sitting on the axle to spin freely. my original spacer is snug and i dont think its moving at all, but i dont need any break problems.
.
Re: New School "plumbing"i strung the cables up for the last time. they are not coming out after this except to replace the inner cable with a super long one. and i touched up the scratch.
![]() and i drilled the rear out so now the internal cable is complete. ![]() ![]() .

ENGINEER THINKING
Re: New School "finished internal brake cable"Glad you posted that photo, I was wondering when Kilroy would pop up again. I always loved hearing the old stories about Kilroy and how nobody knew who drew it all over the place, but wiki kind of kills the whole mystique of it; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilroy_was_here

Re: New School "finished internal brake cable"Did you try my tip?
Re: New School "plumbing"
That's genius right there
Re: New School "finished internal brake cable"
kinda but with a twist. No matter what I do the cable rises up and hits the axle spacer. So I broke out an old friend the plastic bb cover thingy. This when compressed pushes the cable down and provides a barrier between the two. .
Re: New School "finished internal brake cable"Great, he's already got a cool bike and now he has this Kilroy guy helping him out.
I tried being serious, but it was boring.
Re: New School "plumbing"
Do you work in the dashboard division at GM? it's all about the bikes, man. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50053
I was going to update my sig line, but I'm not seein' anything worth plagiarizing right now.
Re: New School "finished internal brake cable"a clear pic of the rear brake cable.
![]() here is how i think i am going to keep the cable off of the crank axle. ![]() i slid the bottom bracket boot over the profile axle. once compressed it expands and pushes the cable down. i got to put it together and see what happens or its just speculation. .
Re: New School "finished internal brake cable"dang big....you really are pulling out all the stops(yeah the pun was intended
looking forward to more
