Re: Road King, year? maker?I just picked up a Road King muscle bike which was sold in Eatons department stores, so it could be from there. Not sure if that helps.
Pilsner is the peoples beer!
Re: Road King, year? maker? It has what looks like a Columbia chain guard, but the joint at the seat tube looks murray-ish. That's all I can guess.
WTB: Columbia Roadster
Re: Road King, year? maker?I guess it's Huffman built. Found one in a post here. Same badge, but the seat tube clamp looks a bit different and rear dropouts may also be a little different . Other post says his is a 47. Tried to look up serial #( 10073) for huffman but didn't seem to match any year. Still bewildered.

Re: Huffman Road King? year? maker?I checked a badge list in one of my books. It shows Road kings made by CWC and Colson, but not Huffman. I think the road king name was associated with a store called Sieberling. Phil will probably know what this one is. -Adam
Dragging home rusty old bikes since 1980!
Re: Huffman Road King? year? maker?thanks for the info. The head tube has extra holes for a larger badge, so i'm sure this was some store brand or model. I've seen another bike on here with the same badge. but the rear stays are different. Mine are kind of oval shaped and get real flat toward the rear dropouts.

Re: Huffman Road King? year? maker?Any fresh thoughts on this frame. Still not any closer to the maker or year. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Johnny It's better to regret something you have done than something you haven't done!
Re: Huffman Road King? year? maker? The headset bearing cups look like Shelby. Shelby made a frame of this style in 1939 and 1940, but it is not the most common or well recognized style associated with Shelby.
I have seen Colsons with the Road King headbadge, but retailers often sourced from more than one Manufacturer, so that is a weaker clue. This looks like no Colson I have ever seen. Looking for prewar Colson, Elgin and Shelby bicycles & parts.
Re: Huffman Road King? year? maker? Thanks Doug. I was kind of leaning towards Shelby The seat post area and rear stays look a lot like the prewar Shelbys.Just haven't found one with the same top tube spacing

Re: Huffman Road King? year? maker?
I call them the "long tank" model. When equipped with a tank, it extends back past the seat tube. There have been a couple on ebay in the last 6 months, and it is pictured numerous times in the "Shelby book". Looking for prewar Colson, Elgin and Shelby bicycles & parts.
