This is a heck of a time to take a recess, but man cannot live on work alone so you get a pardon. Still anxious to see what you come up with - I'm watching all the CWC builds closely. Have Fun! Robert

I got out the paint stripper gel and some sand paper for that horrible tank paint scheme. Here's what I came up with.

Dug out a crusty Shockmaster fork for a possible piece. I may use a couple. I like the pre-war tubular legged ones better.

Image

I also dug out some crusty Rollfast Roamer duck tail fenders, now where did I put my cutting wheel?

Image

I think the old green paint is going to go over the next couple of days as well.

Cheers.

A couple pics of my canvas. Late '30s CWC straight down tube goodness!

Ya gotta love a CWC Straight Down Tube Frame for a Buildoff Bike - I think it's the perfect beginning. I've got two different top bar configurations with my '38s - one is just like yours and then my Buildoff Frame has the parallel Top Tubes. I'm just happy to have one of each. But a Comet Tank beats a piece of PVC any day of the week - great start. Have Fun! Robert

Dug out a Comet chain guard. Now time to strip some paint!

I am digging a bare metal and crusty paint look.

'41. I did some paint stripping and serious sanding in 33 degree temps, which is nuts for May up here. I sanded the front Roamer fender and a cut CWC peaked fender. Monkeyed around with some Fat Franks and added drums keys for chain tensioners. Dug out a crusty old Troxel seat and some crusty sprockets.

Both Sprockets are CWC and both are crusty but I like the Hawthorne better - I never have been a big fan of the Luxury Liner style. I got faked out when I saw the headbadge imprint on your frame - never noticed the straight down tube. I didn't think they would have any of those frames left by '41 but according to Phil they were making 4 different styles. Robert

I am going to muck around with springer options. A raked pre-war Shockmaster would be fun to do, minus the top truss rods. I also have a bare metal '50s Monark fork that could be bent a bit more as well.
