Yeah, and another thing I need to keep in mind is play in the chain. I may need to use a chain tensioner.

Or, instead of using the IGH SA5, Maybe I could lace up a 24" rim to the hub from my 79 Spitfire 5. It has an Atom Drum Brake on it, which would be pretty cool as well.

Thanks Tin, There are definitely more than a few factors to consider, but I think I can make it happen. Not that you really need suspension when you are riding on 24x3 tires, but there is the "CUZ I CAN" coolness factor.

Ahhh, KIng, I bought a bunch of parts to build my version of a twinflex (well a faux twinflex), didn't realize you were headed in this direction. It's a double spring version. If it will step on your toes I'll back off of it, your call...

Don't even consider backing off! Go for it!!! There are multiple home grown real and faux front springers and I never get tired of seeing them. No reason why rear springers should be any different. I look forward to seeing what your take on the idea turns out to be.

Something to think about.....when the rear suspension flexes, how does the chain react? Since it pivots around a common fulcrum, I would assume the chain wouldn't slack too much, right? Is a tensioner or derailleur needed? How did Huffman do it?

Looking forward to seeing this in person one day!

Cheers,

It probably depends on how much travel, but typically you don't see IGH's on rear suspension bikes without a tensioner. I would prefer to have the IGH, but the atom brake Spitfire hub would be cool too. Either way, I could make the twin bar shifter work.

Here is my normal full suspension ride (a Dahon Jetstream P8 folding bike) with hydraulic brakes.
I want to see someone make a homemade front suspension like this one.
