26" Wheels, skip tooth rear

[list=][/list]My 26" columbia has a may brake, it may brake, it may not. So lookin a possibilities of a working skip tooth set up. I already messaged the guy on ebay that sells the new style skip tooth sprockets. Is there any where else to get them or does anyone have a decent priced wheel set or at least a rear. Wheel local to the Chicago area?

alll those old hubs are totally rebuildable sounds like you just need to squirt a little wd 40 or 3in 1 in side. They get gummed up and stop working when the grease is so old. If that doesn't work then you probably need a retaining spring that holds the braking parts together inside. It might work out cheaper for you. I'm sure there are discussions here about this exact problem. Keep it OG!

So after your post I decided wth and tore the hub apart. Found the tension spring was broke. Its actually a Hiawatha hub. Would that be a somewhat simple part to locate? And what's the actual part called? Its like a c clip spring with a tab bent out to key into a cylinder that slides and puts pressure on the discs. Thanks for any info.

got a pic of the hub shell and the part you need, got lots of hubs just not all attached to wheels or i would of said something earlier.

Wouldn't mind picking up a older decent front 26" rim so I could get rid of this newer style rim if anyone in on here has one local to me (most of northern IL is in my usual work travels).

Shippings the killer. It would be cheaper to get a whole bike for parts localy. Not really looking to ship a wheel. Thanks though.

i have two drop center rims, they both have black pinstripes and ran with 26x1.75's but work with 2.125's. one a little less patina, one a little more especially in the spoke /hub dept. (maybe too much) they should oil/clean up pretty well(white paint is decieving most of the time)
i'll post em in the for sale section if you aint interested.
i don't know what people sell em for these days.

Got to the local bike swap after camping with my boy today and found two suitable rims for a great price. Thanks for the offers and theinfoo. Once I get the retaining spring ill put the other rim back together and have a spare for that other straight bar bike Im lookin for to make a board tracker.
