What the...!? If I need a part, I know who to ask.

Bpellham, are you keeping the rear rack on there? That looks pretty cool.

Man, I just reread your first post, and you have my sympathy on your mom. 52 is just not old enough. My mom is over 70 now and that ain't old enough either.
I tried being serious, but it was boring.

so, I finally broke the liner down to a (near) bare frame today

Image

trying to decide what front end to use, the original truss rod fork

Image

or the Rat Trap off them men's liner (with the rockers flipped)

Image

I am going to use the "star" chainring I have with the original cranks

Image

and here is the rat trap installed with a bubble gum mock up with a tail dragger front fender.

Image

lots of ideas floating around inside the ol' noggin, just need to keep throwing parts at it and taking pictures so I can remember what it looked like with what part.

I'm really enjoying everyone's builds. Thanks for the comments!

I'm not sure if I'm using the the rack or not. I have an image of a very faded red "Darigold" milk crate attached to the bike. (my mom grew up on a farm in western Washington)

One day I'm going to find one of those star chainrings. LOVE THEM!

the boy and I did some playing around after breakfast. We installed the truss rod fork and found a cool heart chainring and cranks off a Wally-mart special. He then said we should try the 20" wheels with white and purple tires as well.

they won't be staying

That's pretty cool. With those 20 inch wheels it looks like a Royal Enfield kid's bike from 1925.

Okay, maybe you have to use your imagination a little bit.

Thanks Dr T for the link to these tires. They look good and easy on the pocket (my wife almost didn't care) to boot.

I need to slide as much as I can thru paypal, she wont notice as much that way. I look thru these builds and I admire the people that can afford to put some serious money into the projects. Some day (hopefully soon) I hope to return to the days of buying what I want. Being unemployed is for the birds.

Don't get too down on that point, not being able to buy the parts encourages more creativity.

I finally got around to laying down some self etching primer on the truss rods and fork today. My family then held a mini intervention and said we HAD to go race down the waterslides at the pool. I had to give in. Now I'm "assisting" my wife get her fix of margaritas on this very warm Saturday afternoon.

Enjoy your weekend fellow ratters!
