Re: New School "Time to make the Gussets"
not if you weld a bolt on underneath , like a stud . then you wouldn't see the head
Re: New School "Time to make the Gussets"
I thought of this too, but I didn't mention it because I couldn't think of any kickstands that would bolt onto a stud that way. Check out my Build-Off bike: ☆ 1936 Off-Roadmaster Klunker ☆
Re: New School "Time to make the Gussets"Ah man! I just drilled the hole. That's what I get for not checking my thread periodically.
That's a great idea so I went back and looked at things. I need an 8mm Allen bolt because a hex head won't fit if I run the bolt upside down. I can bust out the stick welder and fill up the hole if it all lines up. .
Re: New School "Time to make the Gussets"Stinking lowes dosent carry any Allen M10 x 1.5 bolts only hex heds. Got to go to home depot tomorrow and try there.
The gusset is ready to be welded in, but if I am going to do the stealth kickstand mount trick I have to weld stuff on first. I am going to weld a small square over the hole then the bolt onto that. Then from the top I can fill it in with some filler rod and grind it smooth. .
Re: New School "Time to make the Gussets"
iv had good turn outs when looking for bolts and what not at ace hard ware.... its worth a shot if you have one in your area.
Re: New School "Stealth kickstand"Ok I will try online if the depot dosent have this bolt about 2" long.
10mm-1.50 ALLEN SOCKET HEAD BOLT .
Re: New School "Stealth kickstand"Lawwill Leader is leading the way. A true classic returns for some pavement pounding and off road action. I owned this fork back in 95, but sold it on a bike at the time. I had a chance to trade a vintage fork for this retro gem and its never leaving this bike. big thanks to DirtyDave Gowjobs!

Re: New School "A legend returns!"Sweet! Going to be a tight fit with that short steerer. You going to trim the headtube, or extend/replace the steerer?

Re: New School "A legend returns!"I have figured out a way to extend 1 1/8 aluminum steerers without replacing or welding on extensions.
That's the next big lesson in, New School! .
