To remove those shift lever bosses, cut parallel to the down tube, not perpendicular!

Incorrect, with the old trek frames the braze-on is more then just the post. There is a curved flange that fits the shape of the down tube. They are also bonded to the frame and have a set screw let runs through the frame to the other tab. I wanted to save the both sides and the screw. The best way to do this was to make the cut I did. I will post pics later today of the whole part.

Re: Manta Race UPDATE, First coat of primer, ETC

Postby Bane on Mon Jul 09, 2012 7:40 pm

Ok life has slowed a little so I had some time to spend in the garage. Installed the braze on for my cable stop and added a guide coat of primer. Most of this will be sanded away to smooth out a couple of rough spots. Built the wheels last week, sun rims with an American Classic rear hub and a Nuke Proof front. Remember the carbon it will be somewhere else on the bike. Also need to sand around the braze on to smooth the JB weld. Below is a couple of pics of some parts that will find there way on to the bike. Enjoy the pics more to come.

The ***** are pleased.
Welcome back!
Nice details. I like the cooling fins on the brakes and the perct arch of the frame.

Thanks, That saddle has been on a couple of differnt bikes but not in a long time. I love it and could never let it go. Should be perfect for this bike. I decided tonight to make a crank change. These should fit the theme well.
