Modrophenia

Postby RestoRodSchwinn on Wed May 02, 2012 6:24 pm

I'm jumping into the fray, and not making it easy on myself with this Ted Williams approved Free Spirit - the emphasis on Free. Part Mod, part Who, part Schizophrenia, it's Modrophenia!! I should be picking up a donor bike or two shortly, then it will be time to make the vision a reality. (What am I getting myself into?)

Man, with all those mirrors, if the sun was behind you and hit just right, you could start a fire right on your face.
I tried being serious, but it was boring.

That nearly happened to Jeremy Clarkson on the motorcycle across Vietnam special.

We Are The MODS, WE ARE THE MODS, WE ARE, WE ARE, WE ARE THE MODS.......
Quadraphenia.... one of my top five favorite movies ever....
That makes two cool references in this Build Off... Check out Mod to Rocker....
Good Luck with your build.. That bike is open to many possibilities....
The mirrors and lights would be cool, But if you pull off a Lambreta Fender that'd be the **it....

Yeah, the gears in my mind are turning. The Scooter is short and wide, and the bike is tall and narrow. At the end, I want it to be aesthetically pleasing. We'll see how it progresses :)

I love the whole Mod scene, the style, etc. And, the Who is one of my all-time favorite bands, for sure. I wish I had a bike like the Mod to Rocker to start with, but I'll have to go with what I have at the moment. It seemed like fate, since this bike was given to me just Sunday. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have anything to use - well, other than a couple of girls pre-war Schwinns and a girls Silver King. All projects I'll undertake in time, but not the stuff of a Build Off competitor, IMO.

Interesting name for sure. I plan to dig the Phillips out of the pile today and get better pics of it and then get started. Im a big fan of the mod scene, had many scooters in my life. I now have a Harley and it does nothing for me like the scooters did. Good luck with your build.

Your bike won't be complete without a picture of you mounted and sneering in shades and a striped jacket.

Good luck, Rg

 I think I can manage that one :) Lots of stuff to do between now and then, though.

Thanks for that! Work has been h***. Car and home maintenance has been sucking up time and money. But, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Building with pics starting next week. Something's gotta give, right?
