Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!So to simplify are you trying to say the prize should be a egg but not a golden egg..?
Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!The only reason I even want to win is simply for the bragging rights. I could care less about prizes. Just to know I built a cool bike that people will talk about for years to come is enough to motivate me to push the limits of what I can do, pull out all the stops, and build a bike that will turn heads.
It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.
Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!As long as I beat Youthgeye and Schwinnray69....I'm good!!!
What would Jesus ride???
Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!As long as I finish mine by the deadline I'm good. Lots of plans and only a short time to do it.

Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!I'm not saying there is anything wrong with wanting to win, but for me, if the winning takes away the fun of playing, I'll find another sport. I build bikes as a form of relaxation. I want to keep it that way. I already have enough forms of stress.
I just have too many things going on right now to care too much about winning a bike build off. That is the reason I decided go with an easy to build bike to begin with. Less stress is good at this particular time. One of the good things about this contest is there isn't a huge prize for winning that may make some people go a little overboard in order to win it. But if an Easter Basket was involved, I might be more persuaded to push myself. I like hard boiled, multicolored eggs. Who doesn't? I tried being serious, but it was boring.

Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!
I wasn't condoning what the blue bottle tank bike did. When that one showed up at the last minute in the finished bike section, I was ticked me off as well. It was a great looking bike, but it could have been one that was built 5 years ago or just bought from someone. I know that there is no way that Chips plans for his son to do that. Just look at the cool build that his son is already doing. BO8 FireWing-Flexy-Fugsley-Beer Run * SALE ITEMS, FRESH FINDS + KINGFISH254 Stuff

I'll hard boil and dye the eggs tonight and hold onto them till the end of the build-off. Maybe I'll keep them in the attic till I put them in a box to ship to the winner. Check out my Build-Off bike: ☆ 1936 Off-Roadmaster Klunker ☆
Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!
Ok, that wasn't the one I was thinking of. Plus Chips has gone out of his way to do this right. Also KF I understand you don't condon this kind of behavior. The guy I'm refering to's very first post was in the finished bike section, a clear violation of the rules. And most of us old timers would like to see an intro post as a first post, so it should have been at least #2! To me the build report is the most important part of the whole thing. There's a gallery section for showing off cool bikes. I really wish I could remember what bike this was, but it was definitely from RRBO5. (edit) Found it! It was Naked 41, a grand total of 7 posts, musta' scared him off! Killin' threads since 2000................X
Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!I have better plans for next year's build. By then I should have everything I need to build that bike. Of course by then, I'll have changed my mind. Or I'll get the stuff too soon, won't want to wait, and have it done by the build and have to find something else. The problem is my best free time lies in September-February usually.
I tried being serious, but it was boring.
Re: RRBBO7 HYPE UP THREAD!We had a build off on a custom drum forum I'm on, this new guy shows up and makes a really cool totally homebuilt drum..
Only problem was it didn;t sound very good...He got real crappy with everyone when he didn't win... He didn't stick around for long after that,it's definetly not a place for those with thin skin on that forum... We didn't even have a prize!!!!!
