28 inch wheels

Postby brewtownpete on Tue Mar 27, 2012 1:19 pm

I have a early 1930's Shelby bicycle (similar to a motobike) and I'm looking for the 28" wheels and fenders. They originally came with metal clad. I'm looking to ride it so they need to be pretty straight. Maybe open to other 28" wheels if they are of the same era and take tube tires. Also need:

Rat trap rear carrier
Truss rod(s)
cross barr handle bars

Thanks!!!

I'm probably going to lace up a pair of Velocity P-35's with the old hubs instead of doing the wood wheel / metal clad thing. Your tire options are extremely limited and expensive if you sick with the orig singletube wheels. just something to consider...

I just worked on a set of velocities for Danimal and his Iver Johnson project. Nice quality wheel. His weren't the 35's, they had a very faint raised center ridge but pretty much the same. They had a nice metallic sliver finsh but Velocity offers their wheels in a lot of different colors. I know someone here had a pair nickel plated which looks insane!

Either use old hubs or there is a skiptooth adaptor cog available for Shimano or Sturmey Archer hubs
