69er camelback schwinn (it's not what you think)

Here's the mockup with 26" s2 2.125's (and they rub)
frame is a $10 varsity camelback schwinn
wald bars sake MTB stem and Tange fork

added blue flake schwinn repop grips and built a front wheel
cream 1.95 x 26 tire

4X crome plated spokes and old campy QR ft. hub laced to arya 26 aloy rim

i like where this is going i have a 68 camel back a speedster i want to make it a big boy stingray

The rear drop outs measure aprox. 14 cm so i bouight a QR axle from amazon.com
search "10 x 26 QR rear axle 141 mm" to put in a campy freewheel shell
i bought a bunch of 10mm flat washers @ Ace for spacers because i couldn't find any cheap spares


after a couple trys on the stand i've got the spacing close

the other bit i had to order is the Tange Passage New 1" 27.0mm Crown Race as the old 1" races I had lying around were too small.
I heated the race up with MAP gas and tamped it down with a cresent wrench as a guide and hammer trying not to put the wrench on the machined part of the race.
Everything is repacked with grease and waiting on brake parts now.
dose anyone know the specs for cable housings on these old varsitys?

I ran NOS schwinn housing from the old school shimano levers to the barrel aduster on the stem and and bare cable down to diacomp cantilevers.

26' in the front and 29" (700c) in back

that 700 tire fits into the rear drop out without having to deflate the tire and the long reach brakes reach the larger diameter rim in back.

and as you can see below i have a six speed it's a suntour so it is as wide as normal five
the dish is very slight and i used the same spokes (with the drive side spokes to the bottom of the nipples and the longer side torqued to the bottom of the screwdriver slot ) as came with the wheel when it was a $10 front from a swap meet. i used a three cross to an old campy freewheel hub shell.

swaped out the crank for a varsity setup using the inner chain ring also
wondering what pedals to use

i've been jonesing to get at this build but had to do some outside work.
i went with white bow pedals and 22" white banana seat
the cables and sissy bar shocks are in are in but the rest is still on order including a bushing for my lucky seven seatpost and a 36 " clamp type sissy bar
i was thinking about a suicide shifter for the front but would amost have to covert to a 3 piece crank and i would have to fab a shifter mount

i've got a 13/16 -5/8 merc starter bushing on the way it should serve as the lucky seven seatpost bushing.
and a clamp on sissybar to mount to shocks in stead of the rear setup on this mockup

When I read the post title I was expecting to see a mtb type 69er with a 29er front fork and tire and a 26 rear.

to a mutiplexer on the seat post clamp bolt...

through a roll pin in the lucky seven seatpost and into a housing nesseled in the bushing drilled for the housing O.D., then on a hairpin turn to the back brake...
the clamp type sissy bar came UPS so if it rains i'll be drillling for the shock roll pins...
still waiting on the bushing.

first the good news
i cut a slot in a old Merc starter bushing and used it as a shim for the seatpost; it works!




now the other news

look below and you can see if i do this wrong ill be sreaming along in top gear when a bump could drive my sissy bar into the chain and lock up the rear







so im gonna spec out the drivetrain and then see how short to cut my sissybar with the shocks compressed length in mind
