78 Schwinn Varsity

Postby stingray23 on Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:28 am

Hello rat Rodders. I'm new to the site, wanted to share my bike project. I have 1978 Schwinn Varsity which I'm turning in to a fixie. I got the bike from my brother and just let it sit in its rusty state for about two years. Un fortunally I don't have any picks of the bike when I got it but ill post some pics of the bike since I took bit apart and started working on it. Hope you guys enjoy the build.

This is the bike once I took it apart and lightly sanded it.

The bike is an original Schwinn from Chicago I removed the badge hoping to restore it or buy anew one

I decided to add some body filler to the joints to smooth them out, hoping to put some primer on it by the end of the week!

You should have grounded off the tabs for the cables.
Since u wont be needing a brake or wont have gears.

Looking good so far.
When are you going to shoot the paint?
you dont have to do it right the first time, live and learn.

The wheels I got for the bike, I got them for free just had to buy a front axle since it's a quick release type and replaced some spoke on the
