Hope the chain guard makes the finished cycle. Really brings things together with the tank. That's the way it goes. But every now and then, it goes the other way too.
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy Duty
Let it be a board tracker build. Parts bike builds vs. custom modification builds. I started a board track cycle post last night and will be on the parts build side. Sound off viewtopic.php?f=21&t=48159 That's the way it goes. But every now and then, it goes the other way too.

Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy Duty@Outlaw, the offer still stands, build off? your call. Is it me or does a Basman look just like a Western Flyer. Personally I would love to own this Western Flyer over a Basman. ![]() 1952 Monark Super Deluxe ![]() Coffin Cat ![]() 1945 Hiawatha ![]() My custom Cruiser show bike for next year ![]() So I hope you all keep an eye out for my builds as I have many this winter. Last year winter in Tahoe was 9 months long. Plenty of time. I will post more of the Schwinn as the painting and parts come along. Again I would like to thank everyone for the kind words and inspiration. Blue Last edited by poverty with a view on Mon Mar 05, 2012 8:56 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy DutyI dig flyers too. The springers work sooo well. My green one has seen some weather but works as new now.

Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy Duty(There are no limits to what a "Rat Rod" should be. Anyone can bolt a rusty bike together and flip the bars, not everyone can build or modify a bicycle.)
I hope your kidding about that line. if people had the tools I think they could do what you did with no problem. some builders just like a stock bike ratted out. Actually, your comment, and Outlaw's response bring up a good point. I think it's a safe bet that anyone who posts here has the aptitude, that is the raw ability to do the work on a project like this. The question then becomes, who among us has invested the effort, time, and money to acquire both the skills and tools to do it. But even then- skill, tools, and materials mean nothing without the inspiration- the creative spark needed to initiate such a project, and the artistic eye to pull it off. The ability to do the work is not uncommon. The inspiration, and aesthetic are not common at all. JWM So Cal Rat Rod Ride.

Thanks JWM, I hope to see you at the 10 year anni ride this spring. C-4-L
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy Dutyhey Blue, I don't need to prove myself to you or anyone else. I build bike's that I like and I don't think I am special and have great talants. when I enter a buildoff it will be the sites RRBO, not yours. you have a great day.

Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy DutySo I got to work on the bars today and this is what I got done.
I first got the radius I wanted ![]() Then I tacked this collar on so it will fit the neck ![]() I got my angle right ![]() ![]() The finished product I will grind them down tonight Blue ![]()
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy DutyBump! Wit a little drama
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy Duty
I'm looking forward to seeing these bikes finished up. I couldn't find the correct springer (shockmaster like yours) for my WF, so I made a beehive work. ![]() ![]()
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy DutyI personally like the Beehive fork better. It's cleaner looking. Less stuff going on in the front end. I love all the chrome on yours
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy DutyI had to send a lot of the parts back to the powder coater cause of white spots in the black powder. So I am frustrated with this build. It is taking way to long.
Re: 77 Schwinn Heavy DutyGood thing come to those who wait
Its cool man! So many bikes, so little time.......
