My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildRe: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildYou guys are spot on. I'm planning on making a custom in frame tank this winter. I'm just running the peanut tank though this season. Wisconsin winters are long and boring.

Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildLOL. So are the Winters in Illinois. Good times..
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildHey Dowie, really awesome build, and insane CAD drawings
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildI did use a #35 chain from the engine clutch to the jack shaft input. For the jack shaft output to the rear wheel I used a standard bicycle sprocket for a 410 or Z510 chain. The 9T, 10T, 11T, or 17T sprocket with a 5/8" keyed bore can be purchased though http://www.sickbikeparts.com .
For the rear wheel, sprockets both sides, I went to http://www.spookytoothcycles.com . http://spookytoothcycles.com/component/ ... gory_id=52 Also. Make sure you use good high speed bearings for your jack shaft that can handle high rpm.

Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildThanks alot for the info man, appreciate it
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildNice work. I really like your post. Keep up the good work.
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildDowie,
Tonight is the first I've seen this bike of yours. ( I got to it from seeing the splt collar v-brake mount thread) This is so amazing and professional all the way! What an excellent job! Thanks for sharing this with everyone.
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildGreat Build Dowie! I love the inginuity of not using alot of High bling $ parts.
Curious how you mounted the rear Sproket or is that an aftermarket wheel? It looks like its mounted to a free wheel Sprocket but on the opposite side. Im doing a similar setup with a custom frame and im gonna go with your suggested sprocket sizes for the rear and the Jack shaft. Thanks for all the detail info! Im looking for an adapter to mount my disk to the 5/8 Jackshaft, any suggestions? Also, Do you remember where you got the 28 Tooth Jack shaft Sproket? Only place i have found so far is Mcmaster Carr at $28, Yikes!
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildYou've got serious skills, man! Whatever background you have you've done your mentors proud.
Like most respondents here, Ive a preference for 4 strokes. I suspect your engine mount height was to clear the pedals? If so, a shorter throw crank, either one piece or 3, would let me drop the engine, right? So many bikes, so little time.......
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildHow exactaly did you make the motor mount? Very interesting! Angle iron?
When purchasing from me, remember I live 15 miles from the post office.
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildim interested in how you built your kickstand, did you buy that or build it?
Re: My 63 Schwinn 97cc motorized bicycle buildDid you ever make your in the frame tank?
