Ok, better pics while its in the shop.
The new seat position is nice, handlebars are ok. Still have to think about those.

It looks great so far!

Glad you've decided on clearcoat. That makes the patina really look nice.

This is just my $.02, but-

Have you considered running some half moon bars? I think those would fit very nicely rather than the standard cruiser bar. Have you also considered raking the springer out by flipping the lower mount piece around?

I was able to get this other pic off my phone. Did a little editing and it turned out to have a really cool effect.

Soon the real work will start. The tear down, and endless hours of test fitting parts and wet-sanding.

I just flipped the part around, and it looks really cool now! Thats a cool idea. Also added a nice wire-frame Schwinn seat. Looks a lot better now overall. As for handlebars, I still have the wide ones on there now. Might look into a set of "mini apes", a little shorter than stingray size handlebars.

Got some sand paper, paint, and clearcoat. All I need to do is find a pic of a bike like mine with the pin striping and all that intact so I can copy it. I am repaint those. I think it will have a cool effect.

This weekend is probably the last chance for me to clearcoat the bike. Going to be above 60*F so thats good enough for me.
Still hand painting the details, going to try and finish that tomorrow.

Will get pics soon.

I got the frame just about done, just needs clear coat. I redid the stripes on the front and made it fit the overall look. Rusty and dirty.
Hand painted, then sanded with 150 grit to break through and then wet sand to smooth it out a bit.

I don't like my dads camera, messes with the color.

I am going to wet sand the rusty spots on the springer and clear coat that, but not going to clean up the paint on it. Then wire brush the chrome all over the bike to clean off the loose rust and surface rust.

The frame is clearcoated and it has a nice look to it. I am working on cleaning the rims and getting the fork ready.
Its getting its pinstripe thing too.

I am also doing my upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, so this might be my last update for a while if anything goes wrong.

Take care

Sweet, Windows 7 worked :D and the bike is almost done.
A lot of little things to finish, and finding out what handlebars I want.

Here are the pics, from about 10pm last night.

The paint looks great over the old patina.

It doesn't work on newer ones. On the originals, the pivot mount is offset to the rear (front when flipped) of the base of the head tube.
it's all about the bikes, man. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50053
I was going to update my sig line, but I'm not seein' anything worth plagiarizing right now.
