Oh Yeah!!! Go Flightliners!! Glad I could help but not sure how.
What rims do you have for the Thick bricks?
I found that my Hoggy-gs 24"x3.45" were only 2.6" with a standard (1.5" which is 1.1"Outside dimension)) aluminum rim and fit on my 24" Eliminator (just a thought...)

I also had issues with the 29er (700x40) on my Spaceliner and so I know it's tough
Whatever way you do it, it will be cool

Steve, I picked up a used set of alloy 24" MTB wheels that were right at 1" inside dimension. Just mounted a Brick on the front for fit check, and the Brick was almost 2.8" wide!!! The rear had under 2.5" clearance, and the forks were more like 2.25".

I've dropped the idea of using the Bricks on the 'Liner! I've got a rather unconventional idea in store for a set of 26" alloy rims. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out......

This is the second chrome bike I've done. The Fleetwing that my F-I-L gave me turned out to be a 1961 Raleigh-built bike for Jordan-Marsh stores. He bought it used in 1973-ish.

As I got it.....

Work is kickin' my butt! I'm getting really irritated! How's a guy to build a really rad Build-Off bike while he's at a real job! Geesh!

Just a LITTLE progress today.....I ordered my tires, all 26 inches by 2.4 inches of rubber goodness! That, my fellow pedal pushers, is absolutely ALL the meats you can possibly mount on an unmolested Flightliner frame....front OR back! Add in my secret ingredient, the rolling stock is the one thing that will differentiate me from the pack!

That and my new "good luck charm"......



Pick up you jaws, guys! The wings are gonna let this 'Liner FLY!

@Justin, it's off of a '51 Chrysler. BTW....It would have to be an industrial-strength Christmas tree....the thing is over a foot long!!

Thanks, Pick! I applied a little more elbow grease to the frame last night....still a bunch to do. It will probably take the rest of the month just to get the frame the way I want it. It's still going to be a rat of sorts....I've decided to not re-chrome anything, at least not at this point. The original chrome has some major scars from its previous life, and they will remain! I call it "character"!

I will be adding a splash of period-correct color (not production-correct). Let's just say it will go with the given name......***Brightliner***!

Mini-update!!!

Here's what 10 minutes with paint stripper, rinse, steel wool and PB Blaster will do!!!



Pulled my alloy rims out from under the house....gotta get them to shine like new money! THAT will take a while!

I know, I know.....

"Where've you been?!?!?!"

LIFE! That's where! That and My first passion (after my faith and my family, so I guess it's my third passion) reached out and grebbed me by the throat! Hot rods!!!! I had the chance and took it.....I'm now the proud owner of a 1930 Ford Model A tudor sedan! I've been tied up with running back and forth getting things squared away. It's still not home, but it will be come 6/2!

Anyway...back to the ***Brightliner***......

Picked up some stepped drill bits for my secret treatment! I also had my hood ornament delivered to the car show this past weekend! Gotta get it cleaned up. Still have a little more polishing to do on the frame and stripping paint on the rear rack.

More progress soon......I promise!

Not as much as you may think. All the exterior appearance will remain. The only changes (at least for now) will be mechanical upgrades underneath. It will be an ongoing project.....I promised my wife I'd get the 46 Chevy PU running before I messed with this one. I just had to snatch it while I had the chance.
