Hot Rod Higgins - DONE. In the finished forumRe: Hot Rod Higgins w/parts picI've got POPE.*
*Pile Of Parts Envy I tried being serious, but it was boring.
Re: Pure Evel - Name ChangeOK, so after much thought, I have decided to change the name of my bike from the Hot Rod Higgins to Pure Evel. You guessed it. It is going to be a tribute bike to my childhood hero Evel Knievel. The bike is going to keep the vintage retro look, but with inspiration from Evel Knievel bikes. I guess you could say it is my Pure Evel Rat Bike.
Finally got started on it today. First up...I've decided to chop the rear fender. ![]() Gonna follow the line of the skirt and run the fender into a point. I think this will look killer on the Thick Brick out back. ![]() the tank was pitted pretty bad from rust ![]() Fender has a few dings.... ![]() Time to call in the big guns....BONDO ![]() Let me start off by saying I have NO idea what I am doing when it comes to body and paint work... The fender after. ![]() and the tank ![]() Gonna try to get everything into primer tomorrow....then figure out the paint scheme. Can decide if I want to go with the white bike with blue strips like the vintage Evel bicycles or maybe paint it up like one of the early Evel jumpbikes..... My builds/bikes - Terry66's Gallery

Re: Pure Evel - Name ChangeOK...so finally I am getting excited over this bike. I think I've decided to not use the X53 fork in the pic. It would have been perfect for a Hot Rod bike, but not so much an EK style bike. I have a killer '36 CWC Roadmaster frame sitting out in the garage. Pretty sure the X53 fork will end up on that frame over the winter. I think I've decided to go with either a triple tree style fork or I might even try to find a nice suspension fork.

Was looking forward to seeing how you was going to pull off a Hot Rod Lincoln theme even had ALL's Hot Rod Lincoln playing in my head lol. Evel Knievel sounds like a cool idea too
Re: Pure Evel - Name Change
Ha! There are a lot of us in that same boat about many things. Sometimes I think I am doing a bike build. Sometimes I realize I am just doing an experiment. I tried being serious, but it was boring.
Re: Pure Evel - Name ChangeSweet!
Wake up every morning wondering what new bike I'll find!

Has to be
Re: Hot Rod Higgins - Name Change part IIOK...seriously....I am usually not a freak like this....ok, well maybe I am....but I spent all day yesterday looking at Evel bikes trying to incorporate it into my build and I didn't like the direction it was going. I thought the X53 fork didn't work, I didn't like the fender skirts and worst of all, my long spring seat looked kind of funky. So, I figured I would flop like a fish and drop the EK theme and just build my hot rod rat bike. At this point it is too late to turn back as the bike is about 80% painted. I still have to shoot the frame another coat and then finish the tank. Probably not going to go with at specific theme, although there will be a reference to my all time favorite hot rodder Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins.
Got everything painted flat black and then taped up for the silver metallic accents. My X53 fork chrome was trashed so it has been painted metallic silver, so I thought I would carry that through the build. Chain guard ![]() Fender skirts ![]() Nice.... ![]() ![]() Tank came out pretty good. Just need to figure out if I'm gonna go with a silver insert or maybe have some lines pulled. ![]() Seat, fender, tank, etc. ![]() My builds/bikes - Terry66's Gallery
Re: Hot Rod Higgins - Name Change part IIWow, that paint is NICE!!

Re: Hot Rod Higgins - Name Change part II
Thanks man....not bad considering I have no idea what the heck I am doing with the paint. Probably going to go with red, white and gray on the striping. I need a nice old vintage light with a yellow lens now. My builds/bikes - Terry66's Gallery
