I'm actually working in the shop all day today, I left my camera at church and it's yet to be seen how much work I'll get done on the build-off bike as I've trended towards fixing bikes to donate to the church yard sale and tearing down bikes to clean up a little bit today.

OK, I managed to give away 2 bikes today (one had to be rebuilt), get a 17hp B&S engine running that hadn't run in years, and do some work on the sidecar, I'm really at a loss until I get some sheet metal. I wish scrap wasn't so high or people would be begging me to take theirs.

Maybe try the "free" section in craigslist and hope someone is looking to have an old broken washing machine, refrigerator, dryer or whatever that needs hauled off. Instant sheet metal, and scrap money for the rest.

Thats a good idea . They also sell these plastic sheets at Home depot that are durable light weight & easy to cut .( I wouldnt use it for the flooring) but it would be great for the sides & top ect . Heck you could have a side car with a roof .. :D

I've put out some local ads, hopefully will get something soon. Been offered (and have) sheet aluminum, but I need steel... steel is real.

It shouldn't be hard to find an old fridge and cut the steel panels from that.

I don't think you realize how cutthroat the scrap business is in poorer towns. A scrap guy in my church had over $3500 in scrap stolen from his property, that's in scrap price, but it was over $6000 in stuff that wasn't scrap. If a car is over 10 years old they don't need to see a title to scrap it, so people are stealing cars and scrapping them immediately and by time they are reported stolen, they've already been shredded and someone walked with cash. If I throw a bike frame on the alley it will be gone in less than 30 minutes... guaranteed. The stuff I find... it's just luck.
