Well, I already had one attempt at checkerboard layout. That ended up with me ripping all the little tape squares off that I was trying to put on, sitting the bike down and walking away for awhile.

Second attempt coming soon. In the first try, I cut up a bunch of tape squares and then put them on one at a time. On attempt two, I plan to cut tape in the correct width stripes, put them on horizontally and then cut lines vertically with a razor blade and then pull off every other square.

The moral of the story is that checkerboards aren't as cool as I first thought.

I say get a small er frunt wheel that looks like the stock wheel. the radial lace makes it look like a dragsterfrunt wheel . then get a discover for the stock rear wheel to look like moony wheel covers. just a thought!

Good ideas, but I'd have to buy something! And I'm pretty cheap. I'm hoping to use stuff I have lying around if I can. I do plan on using a different rear wheel I have that has thick spokes to make it more muscle-like looking. Maybe I'll use the radial front with it if I can get off most of the rust.

By the way, DIY will also do graphics if you send them a drawing. I will show you once this is painted and I put it on for a head "badge." I had them make a little crocodile like my avatar. I'll try to take a picture before I put it on, but that might not work well as it is a white decal on white backing paper.

And now I have this going on:





Those tape squares aren't perfect, but they ain't coming off again until they are covered in black paint.

Again, I almost forget about the black paint going on the back of the bike, so once I tape that off, I will be squirtin' the ink.*

When that is done, I'm pinstriping with red. But first I need a Mountain Dew.

Gotta go paint 'cause I really have to go sleep.



*No, it isn't ink; it's paint, but I thought "ink" sounded cooler. I've been watching too many tattoo cable shows.

I screwed up putting on a decal once (put it on crooked), and the guy sent me a free replacement when I told him I needed to buy another. I even told him I screwed it up myself. He said it didn't matter, he guarantees satisfaction. Well, I was pretty satisfied.

From his website:

"If for any reason the lettering does not install correctly, we will send a free replacement for any damaged letters, or even the whole piece if necessary. Standard shipping is free for any replacements."

Even if that reason is just putting it on stupid and screwing it up!

Oh, and depending upon what you are doing, you can have him print your decals on clear instead of cut out letters and it is incredibly cheap. Only thing is, clear isn't listed yet on his "Background Options" so you have to email him or call so he can get you a price.

Okay, another couple minutes and another coat of black going on.

I got some hospital runs most weeks with a kid, but this week is free, so I gotta get ta buildin' now to stay ahead of the game. This build will slow down real soon.

...and since I am the only one at the shop I work at at this hour as the place is closed, I have the pop machine to myself and all the Mountain Dew I can afford.

Usually, when I order lettering here, I get it within a week.

As I mentioned before, if you don't need separate letters, you can order the letters printed on a background. Hopefully, that makes sense. Anyway, this can drop the price for an item from say $5.00 to less than a dollar. But the separate cutout letters are pretty cool.
