No Badges, What is this?

Hey everyone,
I picked up this beast on CL for $30.
Any idea what it is? What vintage?
I looked around and was thinking it could be a higgins, but really am just guessing.

Hawthorne badged bike built by HP Snyder, circa early 50s. Snyder was one of the two companies that supplied Rollfast along with DP Harris. Hawthornes were also supplied by CWC. So if you look up early 50s Rollfasts, you'll see half that look about like this, and then some early 50s Hawthornes would look like this.

Assuming the chainring is original, you have a Hawthorne there. Is there a headbadge ghost?
