Lets see your Daily Driver

Postby RonK on Thu Jun 07, 2012 10:51 pm

And here's mine. Cheapie 50 dorrah Huffy Cranbrook, yanked the fenders and chain guard, installed a chrome chain, swapped out the seat, and finally added the obligatory "big boy road soda" holder. Image

I try to ride these three pretty equally, but do the most riding on the track bike.

2010 Specialized Langster steel with custom wheels that I built up with All City Standard track hubs, Velocity b43 rims, and DT Swiss Competition spokes. 3t stem, origin8 bullhhorns, fancy gold KMC chain. Still has teh stock Sugino Messenger crank and chainring. I will be putting in the Dura Ace headset today and building a set of Dura Ace track hubs up to some 88MM carbon rims, then upgrading to a Dura Ace track crank and bb, and replacing all of the support groupo with Nitto counterparts.
this is the only recent picture I have, and it is partially blocked by my fiancée's 2010 Jamis Sputnik.
Image
preview of the new wheelset, this front wheel belongs to my boss, I will be using the same rims but with different hubs.

The Cannonball:
1992 Cannondale R600 frame built up with Sram Apex derailleurs, Sram Rival crank, Sram TT500 shifters, Tektro brakes, Mavic CXP22 wheels, Origin8 bullhorns and stem, Jamis aero carbon seatpost, and a titanium railed, perforated leather Selle Italia Flite saddle. This is my road bike with fixed gear streetfighter flare.

The Hoodride:
1980's Kabuki by Bridgestone. Set up for fun and good looks.

When I am not riding, I am whippin my 1987 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon. Slightly played around with

My daily rider right now, well, not daily, but I get on it as often as I can, 2000 GT Pro Series 24

Hopefully in the next couple months this will be getting regular use,
'81 Schwinn Scrambler, build date the same month I was born, needs a good tear down and tune up
Image

24/20 Buzz Bike, hopefully the build is done on it by the end of the month

I sometimes switch around the bikes I ride. But mostly it is between these two:
1981 Schwinn World Tourist

And my 1964 Monark

You've done it a world of good; love the red tires and radial spokes!

The seat was shot, I was told that the seat I put on it came from a stationary bike. Got some new tires, went through it added ape hangers and a red chain. Then I got hurt, had groin hernia surgery and cant ride it for aleast a month. Every time I look at it I want to ride it.
I like to find junk and try to make it pretty. If I fail, its still junk.

I have that same seat, or at least one that looks like it from a stationary bike but the seat stem is part of the seat and smaller then a normal post so I can't use it on anything. I'm sure I'll eventually figure something out.
Bike, you will like it.

This is my daily driver, a Nirve Switchblade.
The only thing i changed was the saddle, 'cos the original Nirve saddle was too noise ( it kept squeaking and rattling inspite of attempts to lubricate any moving parts )
I replaced it with a white Selle Royale cruiser seat with smooth suspension.
I use this bike for work, gettin' my groceries and long distance rides.
And recently took it with me on a cruise with the riders from DHC in The Hague .
Here's some pics..

Before changing the saddle..

And how it looks now..
