Colson gallery...

Postby 12bcruzin on Tue Aug 16, 2011 10:25 pm

Here are a couple of pics of the new (to me) 1941 Colson Bullnose sold by Goodyear tire stores that I recently picked up locally...original owner's family..."War Tires" blackout pedals with wood blocks, blackout spoke nipples (spokes were probably too but too rusty to tell).

That is a very cool bike you are right on the year but it isnt a bullnose bike some people call the bike a blister tank or an eyebrow tank bike. here is a pic of my bike like yours but sold by firestone and a pic of my colson bullnoses sold by firestone goodyear never sold bullnose bikes they sold the clipper instead.

Yeah, the bullnose cruisers have a tank which extends a wee bit beyond the head tube. The head tube, if I am not mistaken, has two special holes (I guess the tank is somehow fixed up there), but otherwise I think the frames are the same. I think.

That's an awesome bike you've got there. I had a Colson blister tank and I wish i hadn't sold it... nicest unrestored bike I have ever had, at least in terms of the ride. That thing was solid.

Edit: Does it have holes in the front fender, for a headlight? I was just curious if the wartime edition didn't, or if yours was missing.

No holes for a light on mine-more of a "standard" model with a tank for Goodyear I guess after looking at the additional white accents on Nate's. Funny how the spoke nipples were black and maybe the crank (crank has a black tint but hard to tell). Rims are painted grey with pinstripes, chrome truss rods and cad plated braces...I think the slightly more optioned model would have been equipped with a prewar (non embossed) delta winner according to the ads...so the search begins

Oh man, those batteries are awesome! Put in use before 1943. That's incredible that they are in the condition they're in. These bikes are spectacular too. I have two Evans-Colsons which aren't nearly as neat.
It'll rub out.

This one has a faux worn finish. Fun cruiser.

"Clipper" model. Industrial art masterpiece, IMHO....I mean evocation of the motorcycle, aircraft, auto, sure, but style a bicycle to reflect a ship hull...that's rad
