Thanks Badmuller! :)

The forks cap was from the Hawthorne donor bicycle.I like the shallow one better than the chucky one that come on the repops forks and besides, it was already rusty, which was great.Keep an eye out, i'm sure you'll find one soon.

Would you agree that the tires look very "new" in comparison to the bike?
They look nice and it could fail, but have you thought about giving them the "old" look too?

Hey Badmuller, yeah that's on the list to be done. They do look too clean at the moment, but have just put them on to see how its going.Been playing with a few ideas of how to dirty them.Either i go for good old fashioned dirt and rub it on with some old rags that I clean parts with or I use this great new stuff I have just heard about called devlin Mud, its a paint.I shall be doing a few test as I don't want to ruin the tyres as those things are expensive! Will keep updates coming with how it's going.I'm painting the gas and oil caps as I type! Pics soon.

I've never had completely white tires, but I've had good luck making white walls look old and dirty. Just try to keep them clean while actually using the bike.

looks great
to 'patina' the tires just work on some stuff then let the air out of your tires and pull them off and remount them a few times.....thatll get them nice and 'patina'd'....theres a reason why my whitewalls looks like this(not intentional....just need stop working and wash my hands more often  )

Thanks everyone. :)

I think the tyres will dirty very quickly and over time they will blend in.Cheers Sensor, i think a few grubby finger marks could work. :D

Joeskustoms, I think once the tanks on there, you see it will add to it.I am currently drilling the holes for the brackets.

I am thinking it would look nice with the chain guard i have. After looking at it last night, it does look fun.Maybe I'll get a pic up and see what you guys
think.

Thanks for the kind words.More soon

The color/finish combo on this bike is great.

With a few rides the tires should break in a bit, or maybe an dark tea colored ink wash might age them just enough?

Very cool.

Charlie, This bike is a work of art! It looks BEAUTIFUL in the mockup stage nearly complete, and to me the tires look perfect just as they are. It's a fantastic contract, I.M.O.

PS, are those Felt tires? If so, are they 24" or 26"? They look like fatter quick bricks (26")... very, very nice!

Thanks guys! The tyres are already getting dirty from wheeling it in the garden.I think I will let them be for the minute and see how they look in a week or two.The tyres are Schwalbe Fat Franks Unchained, they look nice and fat don't they.I have painted out the logos. They are size 26'' 2.3.

Been doing lots of little bits and pieces over the last couple of days.A nice rusty chain from the donor bicycle has gone on.Cleaned it a bit, but left the rusty look. The tank has now been fitted with the brackets.I have painted the gas and oil caps.I used a vitamin lid for the gas one and a kitchen bottle top for the oil one.Gave them a little paint rust effect

Here's what they look like now.

Then I took a pic with the tank.

I just placed the gas cap on top of the tank, so it hasn't been stuck on yet.

I have been also this afternoon, working on the oil tank, which is going in the gap underneath the seat. It's taken a bit to get the shape right and get it to fit in but it's not looking bad.I have had to make a wooden support to go under the seat, to stop the seat tipping backwards and hitting the rear fender, so part of the oil tank at the top has had to come off.Pics of the support and oil tank soon.

Thanks again for the nice comments, i'm really enjoying this one!

Did you doll up the chain too with a bit of paint? Looking great Charlie!

Looking great! 8) My 2 cents, a nice deco chain guard would seem to be in order.
