24" Firestone - Tank art options??Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"These 1982 Sun rims needed some love so I decided to treat them to the straw trick. It worked out real good. The paint I used is Dupli-Color caliper paint (with ceramic). It took a solid day to dry real good, but its very durable and hard. Its also the perfect deep red to complete the "look"..!

Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"So we're going with a bobbed rear and no front fender. I was going to leave the rear fender brace off, but fter getting the fender cut in just the right spot it was real flimsy without the brace. I tried to get the brace to sit as vertical as I could. I got it all mocked up and took it for a spin, and it rides real nice. All thats left is to get the chain guard mounted and paint it!!

Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"
Thanks!! I think once the paint is laid down, it'll look incredible! My son can't wait to cruise it!
Firestone Special Cruiser 24"I took the pedals apart to clean up & re-grease. It's a Wald pedal set. I thought I'd find some bearings inside, but nope! I guess they just packed some thick grease into the cups at each end of the spindle... Also one of the spindles has a slight bend in it. It feels awkward when pedaling. I think I'll heat it up and try to bend it back.

Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"I picked up a Rat-Trap springer fork for this project for a good deal. Its missing two of the four shoulder bolts..
Here's the dimensions of the bolt: Overall length = 1 1/4" Shoulder length = 1/2" Shoulder width = 7/16" I'm not sure what the thread pitch is, but its the shoulder portion that is most important here. Are all four shoulder bolts identical? The one that goes through the fork may have a longer threaded portion. Can someone check theirs and see..? ![]()
Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"I stink at hardware, but will these work?

Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"I've got two bolts that might work for you. They are from a JC Higgins beehive springer.

Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"
Joe, those bolts will work!! PM SENT..
Firestone Special Cruiser 24"
The shoulder width on those is 1/16" too big. Someone would have to turn em down on a lathe.. I know (hope) some originals will pop up.
Re: Firestone Special Cruiser 24"This is one COOL build
Wake up every morning wondering what new bike I'll find!
If you don't have pics, it probably didn't happen! A t-shirt without a pocket is just a garage rag! FIREBOLT BUILD RRBBO6: The Young American RRBBO7: Hot Rod Deluxe
