PART & BIKE SUPPLIERS

Postby Rat Rod on Wed Nov 15, 2006 1:12 pm

Thought I'd get a thread going about cool part suppliers.

Felt Bike Parts (Quick Bricks, Thick Bricks, etc.)
http://www.feltracing.com/09-catalog/parts/cruiser-parts/09-felt-quick-brick-cruiser-tire.aspx

Electra Bikes
http://www.electrabike.com/06_new/flash_index.html

Nirve Bikes
http://www.nirve.com

I'm sure there are plenty more.

I've got a really good relationship with a LBS and I always try to support them first but when they can't help I've purchased from Nirve plus these sites...

Bike World USA
http://bikeworldusa.com/

Bike Parts USA
http://www.bikepartsusa.com/

Dans comp. Although a bmx store it's a good source for cool pedals, chanrings and a few other things.
http://www.danscomp.com/index.php

J&B Importers. It's wholesale only but you can browse their catalog and have your LBS do the ordering.

I have to agree with what Randy said, I always try to deal with my LBS. It just so happens that the owner of that LBS is the husband of the owner of bikeworldusa.com (Debbie).

All I can say about Debbie at bikeworldusa is that she puts in an incrediuble amount of hours a week to make sure that all customers get exactly what they want in very short order. They are still packing orders at 1 AM some days. Customer satisfaction is their #1 priority. And they have an unbelievable inventory.

As I stated it in another thread, you will not find better people to deal with anywhere than you will dealing with bikeworldusa.
It don't make her a bad girl, but it does make her popular.

It's really cool that you guys are supporting your local bike shops! I run a local bike shop in my town that has been around since 1936. If you don't support them than they WILL go away. And plus it makes you feel better too. I always have supported the local guys, you may spend a little bit more but usually they don't get ya for shipping. Troy

Another plug for Debbie at Bike World USA.

I bought a set of 26" x 2.125" white walls with brick tread for $29 shipped...to Texas. That's cheaper than my LBS!

As always she's quick to respond and extremely friendly.

I try to use my LBSs as much as possible but none of them carry everything I'm looking for, although I have one LBS
http://www.beyondbikes.com/ that's an internet superstore.

These guys carry some hard to get ahold of stuff on the cheaps especially older OPC items, but sometimes take awhile to ship.

http://www.niagaracycle.com/

For newer bike stuff I use these 2 alot, very fast shipping and good-to-great prices

http://www.jensonusa.com/

http://www.pricepoint.com/

These guys are also very good

As always there's Nashbar, but I think they've slid on inventroy of late

I recently ordered a few sets of grips and a kinda-hard-to-find 26x1 3/8 white wall tire from Bikeworld USA. I was a bit apprehensive about customs and shipping, etc but my stuff arrived lightning fast (about week from NY to Montreal, QC) and everything was perfect. I didn't even get charged any customs or duties.

Debbie is awesome. Very good customer service!
I highly recommend ordering from Bike World USA!

Experience with Questionable On Line Parts Seller

Postby lfisher160 on Fri Oct 05, 2007 2:59 pm

Several months ago (Mid May 2007) I was searching for a few parts to finish my Western Flier Triple Tandem Custom. I found StreetLowrider.com and the website showed the parts I needed. I placed an order, which was confirmed by an automated e-mail, and waited. And Waited. And Waited. Every time I checked my order status online it showed "Pending" if I tried to call the voice mail answered and said the "mailbox was full". Nobody responded to e-mail or calls at any time of day. On June 20th, I was so frustrated I sent an e-mail in attempt to cancel the order, I received no reply. Imagine my surprise when on July 10th a partial shipment showed up on my doorstep! I sent more e-mail and made more calls to no avail. I couldn't even obtain a return authorization. Then, on July 23rd, I got an e-mail thanking me for my order and stating the balance had been shipped! Three days later more stuff showed up - a total of $150+ worth of stuff I had ended up buying through my LBS. To this date Streetlowrider still does not return e-mail and the voice mailbox is "full" - Anyone else been screwed by these guys?

You've been warned!
