Leather fork stopper for Slick Daddy (with process pics)

Postby Spincycle on Sun Jun 03, 2012 11:43 am

I put together a basic step by step about this leather fork stopper that I made to match these grips I made. You can see the grips here. http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57728

Leather cut to size. Drew a grid on the leather with a pencil. Stamped using drill press. Arbor press would be much better.

Fininshed embossing

Sanded the edges round then colored leather with leather dye.

Drilled holes using drill press and started lacing.

Lacing complete. I put a cork backing in for grip, padding and to wick any potential moisture away from the paint.

Finished lacing, facing down. Then applied finish top coat to leather.

Done!

That's a good idea, and a pretty cool way of doing it also.
I tried being serious, but it was boring.

Nice work! You got skills.
It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.
