JC Higgins frame

Postby Big Jim Mac on Thu Apr 12, 2012 6:12 pm

Dug this out of the shop the other day, anyone have a picture of have one of these with all the parts in place? Frame is in really good shape, I think it would clean up real nice. It's missing one crank arm and I'm sure those green grips don't belong, maybe wrong bars too? Anyone interested in this beast? Or have the wheels for it?

That looks like a 3 speed from the late 60's or early 70's. you should find a cheep 3 speed and swap parts.
If it's not been rusty what good is it?

Would this take 24 inch wheels?

Try26" x1-3/8" or maybe 27", but if I was to guess, I'd say 26".

The JC Higgins name was retired after 1963, on Sears' sporting goods line. But, there were a few that used up extra parts, especially the imported lightweight bikes, like yours. Most of these were made by Daimler/Puch/Steyr for Sears, and had the JC Higgins name on the chainring. -Adam
