Year of this road master bike.

Picked this up for free yesterday. Was wondering if anyone could help me narrow down the year.

dropouts look like late 40's.

Appears to be original 1" x 3/16" chain drive. Not later than very early 50s. I don't what years they had the staight tank bar, but my guess would be very early post-WW2 as noted by the previos respondents.

Bad .... Got me a nice rat project now. There is another one I can get, same place. Might end up going and getting that one too.

Looks like a 48-50, with springer.

Numbers on the bb are usually fairly easy to decipher. If it has a big C with a small w or "Cw" then the date is stamped right on the bottom. Don't remember all the eras they did that for but for sure but they did that in the early 50s. If it is not as simple as Cw52 for a 1952, then you can always go to the serial number thread over at the cabe to figure it out.
