We have been having a big stink with smart meters being installed against peoples will, even the local government said no, they said they will not abide to local policies  so PG&E is not making too many friends lately, I had one come to my door yesterday, and I flat out told him no, He responded with when PG&E forces installation ,there is nothing you can do, really, I think I can stack 50 bike frames on either side of the meter ,to at least make it challenging

I don't usualy talk politics, but I will make an exception this once. With that bunch of socialists in the whitehouse an the moment you can be assured that that is not the only part fo your life they will want to controll. You should listen for words like "for the better good" as they always couch there soc agenda by telling me I need to give so that others can take. It is a common theme with dems. Oh well this country is such a big mess that I doubt much could be done to stop it now. fist smart meters that tell you when you can and can't run your air conditioner, and then taxes and fees on gass. No new oil drilling after all Obama sadi "Gas prices will have to go up" so he can stopthe american people from driving so much and using all of the world resorces. Do not forget big companies like GE Pay little to no taxes because they follow the liberial dogma GREEN ENERGY while the little guy gets to pay tax after tax to support the nonsence comming out of washington.

Google Stopsmartmeters and there is all kinds of info, basicly its big brother watching , monitering when you do your laundry take a shower and pinpoints your appliances if they are not up to current standards, the worst part is the radio waves they send, giving people headaches ect.

The government has always tried to control people and stick their nose where it does not belong. Eventually the people will overturn the government and there will be a huge mess. There are far better ways to help the economy than these smart meters and big brother putting a probe on your house to invade your privacy.

Examples:
1. cut costs, LED traffic lights, street lights, exc. Let the police roll in a Prius instead of a gas guzzling muscle car or big clunker 4 door sedan.

2. Push the auto companies to start making more fuel efficient vehicles.....I mean GM BRAGS about 35MPG....The 1940's VW bug got that or better! 70 years of progress

3. We have our own oil in Alaska, DRILL IT!

4. Taxes on all foreign goods. That'll bring in some bucks! Just look around Walmart.

5. Outlaw people shopping at Walmart  .....or at least make Walmart carry SOMETHING made in AMERICA.

6. Stop all this foreign aid going to Japan, Haiti, China, exc. If you want to help someone send your money to DETROIT! Keep it in the USA, Help our own people. Japan certainly has more money than we do! If you don't believe me look at every electronic in your house and see where they are made. You don't even need to get up look at your computer....

7. Impeach OBAMA. Or at least put a stipulation on his stimulus packages that they must be spent on AMERICAN goods. Stop stimulating the Chinese economy.

8. Stop union abuse, here at Chrysler and Delco there are people complaining about getting $28 an hour and full medical when someone else would do the same job for $15 an hour and not give a crap about medical. Then bring game boys to work to "keep busy" and the union fights for them to keep their jobs and get paid more! :x

I not saying I am a fan of PG&E, The Dems, or Repubs, but the bill for Smart Meters in California passed on July 20, 2006 when there was a Republican President and a Republican Govorner. Obama wasn't on the scene yet.

I can not argue that point except to say there are no republicans in cali  . It always statrs out there and then moves this way. I do not want to argue for the republicans either, as I think they are almost as bad. This stuff is going to happen whether we like it or not. American companies have already stopped making incandesent light bulbs because congress think that we the childern can not decide for ourselves what kind of light bulbs we want to use. Dems, latley they have been a joke. Not to mention this president can't cut 100 billion out of a budget that is 1.4 tirllion over buget this year. Hate to say it but until something realy changes (and I am not saying it will) we are pretty much doomed

I live in the country and my power comes through a small rural co-op called Coles-Moultrie Electric.

I had an offer from them to put a device on my central AC that allowed them to extend the time between cycling during peak hours. In return, I was to get a cheaper rate on my electric usage for the AC. The program was voluntary. That was 15 yrs. ago.

I signed up and have had the box on my AC all that time. I have never once noticed that they were cycling it. I have a separate meter for my AC and when I get my bill I can see what the AC costs me. With the device I only pay around $25 a month to keep my house like a refrigerator. Think about it...95° outside and I'm only spending a dollar a day to stay iced.

It's the best deal I've ever gotten from an electric company and I hope I can keep it. Gary

As long as it stays voluntary, that's fine, it'll save us some bucks.

If my bike says "Slow down, you are going to crash!" I'll make that choice, not the bike. Of course, there's always an ulterior motive with the government. They might try to make it mandatory later on, saying it's good for everyone, like seat belts, or less fat in McDonald's french fries.

For me it is more than "smart meters". There are camaras on all of the stop lights now. People collect your info every time you do an internet search. There is a bill now that will force black boxes into you car so that every time you get your oil changed the government know your driving habbits. You can't eat crunchy fries because the government decided no transfats in the oil like we can not make our own decitions about what we eat. In Hawaii the is a law pending that would not allow childern to play with squirt guns. I mean it just goes on and on. I just think adults should decide what they want to eat and how they want to live.

Squirt guns? Seriously? Well I guess they'll have to stay inside eating non fattening McDonald's fries and playing Grand Theft Auto and Halo.

Even the happy meal is not so happy anymore. In San fransico they band happy meal toys. You ever ask yoursefl if you can even remember what is was like to be free?

Dennis Prager always says, "The larger the government, the smaller the individual". Anyone who pays attention can see how our freedoms have been whittled away, nick by nick for "the greater good". You don't have to look very far into the past. Twenty years ago I could ride my motorcycle without a helmet, smoke a cigarette in a restaurant, and have a can of beer at the beach. Now we're not even allowed a cigarette at the beach. Seatbelt laws were once something that could be added on to a citation if you were pulled over for some infraction; now going without a seatbelt is cause for being pulled over, and cited. I could go on, and anyone here could easily add to the list. There is a mindset prevalent on the left that seems to think that the major problem with people is that they do what they want to do instead of what they are told to do. And the left ALWAYS knows better than you what is good for you, and me, and everyone. I'm waiting for someone to jump in with the argument about second hand smoke, or the canard- "if it saves one life..."
Don't even get me started on "green" anything.
Truth is, the leftist nanny state is devouring our freedoms, destroying our prosperity, lying to us, and forcing a dreary, humorless, politically correct totalitarianism on what once was the last best hope for liberty on the planet.

^ helmets and seatbelts are wonderful inventions. problem is, you have to wreck for them to work.

I learned how to drive in a REAL AMERICAN truck (1966 International 1200 series) with no airbags, no seat belts, not even anti-lock brakes or power steering, and I survived just fine. I got rear ended by a Honda Civic at a red light he was doing about 45 talking on a cell phone and not paying attention. He didn't even attempt to stop till BAM! Didn't hurt the truck at all. Left a few little scratches on my bumper and for lack of better words.... dismembered his Civic. Seat belts would have been nice though to keep my face from the 9 gauge steel dashboard. Heck even a dash pad would have been nice.  But I still think as long as you are over 21 it should be YOUR choice if you want to wear it or not.

Also after the police left I DROVE to work like it never happened....lol. They had to bring a flatbed and scrape what was left of his car off the road.

The Smart Meters sound horrid.

I'm neither Repub nor Dem, and it has been my experience that while the machine cooks up new ways to boil our freedoms away, the mouthpieces on both the left and right do their best to blame the other side. Whatever; if they were honest, they wouldn't be politicians.

But, I would like to remind the Repubs on this thread that Barry Oh never cooked up anything so heinous as the ironically named "Patriot Act". That was *your* boy. Neither party owns the patent on rights-stomping, big-brother initiatives, or telling folks what they can or can't do. That's just the Machine at work, I'm afraid.
