Good eye, 26 x 3 CST hookworms on a 50mm rim. I had to dig out my homemade crimping tool to work on the stays to get it to fit. It's a fun wheel, I laced an old Shimano 3 speed coaster to it. Bought a pair of rims then a pair of tires, laced a kickback hub to the other one...

Looking at my photos I notice that the darts on the fork are painted blue. I had blue tires on this bike a few years ago and didn't like them. I had painted the darts to match the tires. It looks stupid now with the black trim between the lugs on the head tube. I've just decided to over paint the blue darts with black paint. There will be a day in March when it is dry enough to spray bomb these on outside. A minor detail that I should be able to accomplish in March. This build is so laid back and so much fun.

I'd be interested in just how you did this. I have a wishbone framed Klunker single speed that I want to make into a 5 speed all drum brake narrow wide chain ring with 3 inch tires. I have all the stuff except the spokes but I was leery about expanding the stays so the 3 inch tires would fit. The tires are labeled Soul. It now has 2.125 white wall street tires on it now and theses work well for anything I can ride on a single speed Klunker, unless it's wet. Wider tires will help a little in the wet but wet roots need knobs. I don't have 50 mm rims, I have old Aray rims, wide, but not that wide. I want to so this conversion this summer.

I painted one of the blue darts black. In a few days I'll flip it over and do the other one. Paint dries slow at 10F. 15522448700451931186774.jpg

My shop is small so my work bench is out side. I kept it clear till January but it got too deep. That is my work bench right behind the snow blower. 1552247278580-1554084128.jpg
My studed tire ice bike. Can't get to it. It's right behind the shovel about 6 feet back. 1552247424575-1393902128.jpg

Nice. Beat me to the bent springer.
I was just going to order one...
Also a pretty cool first post.
Flip over to the "intros" threads,
and get a welcome from the crew.

I also stand corrected. That back tire is only a 26 x 2.4 not a 3 inch and not a hookworm (I'm getting bikes from the past confused) but I'm thinking of calling it Jagwar, as in Gwar, the band...[IMG]

    Alright there's a lot going on here...[IMG]
You can see the three inches of tubing that was added behind the bottom bracket. There's also a decent view of the Shimano 3 speed coaster, a little bit of cable, the shorty shifter and the fat flat black rim I laced to the hub with the red nipples (matches the front wheel) #jagwar

Anybody else plugging away at their bike? Today I fit the original chain guard. I also rode it a bit, the stem I have here needs to be replaced... I'll be looking for something a bit vintage, at the least an old Wald.[IMG][IMG]

Oh, and my front tire? Allstate 26x1.75

I took the masking tape off the darts I painted over but it is too cold for the tape to stick so the paint bled all around the tape. I'm calling it done, can't do anymore as it too cold and won't warm up enough this month to do any painting that requires masking.
