Rust and bare metal are almost mandatory around here...
Oh I know there are crossovers. But a Rat Rod Car isn't often also a Muscle Car. The parallels are there, a Fade or Thick Metalflake or SuperGlossy and lots of chrome just typifies a Muscle Bike. Always? No, and I'm in a class full of cruisers donning banana seats and apes to try and fit in. I suppose it's a bit ridiculous to expect many of us to go for the stereotypical (classic) Muscle Bike paint job. Then again you and I both have had bikes in the MBBOs of the past with classic Muscle Bike paint. Full blown paint jobs, chrome and a sic tire combo (especially slicks or super fat tires) glitter bananas and tall apes WIN. No rust or patina, 1 bare metal polished, 2 fades, 1 superflaked, 4 with solid colors including a cruiser in black... yeah you can enter crusty but you probably won't WIN.

Sad little update...
I was going to reassemble the bike but upon closer inspection I discovered places that needed more paint... So I hung it in the garage. Warmed my paint can under hot water. I sprayed a second coat. I've been so busy lately I should've done this a week ago...

How about some anodizing duplicolor over those chrome fenders? would probably scratch by just looking at it but might look cool for a minute!

There's no way the chrome fender is going over the 20 x 3.0 tire and I want the full fender. So the vintage Carlisle Stud 20 x 2.125 from the front goes on back and an old 20 x 1.75 will replace it.
Don't mind the clutter. I was packing for a move that got pushed back, and I'm a bachelor. So, hehe, bikes in the house are no big deal. (oh look a taterbug from the 1890's)

So, with a little bit of work, I think I can get the links out of the fender. The crimps for the seat stays are in the wrong place, as is the crimp for the chain guard. But it will be fine soon enough. I've got an idea or two...
There's an issue at the front too, but it's just brackets I need to sort out.

Speaking of smokin' .... this bike really is!
I can't help but think that a photo / vid of a kid (maybe a Sunday School drop-out from next door) riding this mini muscle bike is almost a must! ala the mini fat bike build from BO 13 this summer....now I gotta go find it. I remember having no clue that the bike was only a 20" wheeler, until the kid was on it.
To the archives I go.....

I had the same fender brace ‘challenge’ when building my daughter’s bike a few years ago. I used the same ‘mini’ OCC fork on the build.
I was able to find a set of braces with rather long ‘tabs’ on the end (probably got them from eBay)
I simply bent them over the fork legs and they miraculously lined up with the dropouts.
Hope this helps.
Great little build so far, the proportions in that last photo are spot on. It looks like a motorcycle without the motor or tank on it.

I think I'm going to tap holes on rear facing side of the fork and modify the brace. Uncrimping the rear fender without jacking up the chrome will be the real challenge.
Rear struts, recover the seat and get some small screws to fit the spikes I have, are on my punch list.

The seat is a placeholder till I can get the naner' ready. Still lookin' to get a bent 13/16th seat post and a big headlight. But I'm also ready to switch my focus to Muscle Spasm...
