I don’t know. The guy who sold it to me said it was a WWII BFG Victory I found some info supporting it might have been made in 42 or 46.

Number on bottom bracket is I79655

Maybe a 1942. It matches up with a list of Schwinn serial numbers, "I" being 1942. However, Schwinn went to forward facing dropouts in 46, everything in the catalog also shows forward facing dropouts. So if those are forward facing, it's a 46.

Ahh, thanks for finding that post Sandman. I searched for it but couldn’t find it. So ya, most likely a ‘42.

Ok, I executed the “honey I’m taking out the trash” aka escape-to-the-garage-for-15-minutes protocol tonight (some will remember this reference to an old RRB post).

I made the rear dropouts sleeker and removed any future owner’s ability to mount a rack and fender struts:

Gratuitous action shot in my old man safety glasses (readers):

I will finish grind/sand them prior to paint.

Then I quickly mocked vintage Vista bladed fork to get a feel:

How do I feel about that fork? It’s either that or modifying the Husky tubular fork somehow, perhaps with truss bars.

Hope everyone is sane and healthy.

I think that frame needs a burlier fork.
Huskier?
Or use big thick tubes to hold fenders/a rack to balance it, like this:

This bike has lights incorporated in them.
Just a thought

Looking forward to more of your build! Looks promising

“Honey I’m taking out the trash”... Is that a @yeshoney quote from back in the day?

Blade fork would look great with truss bars.

Hahaha, yup! Exactly. Thanks for input too.

Part of me thinks the skinny tire looks better in the skinnier fork. But I also have a middleweight front wheel I could use on the Husky fork.

Chop away

At first glance, I almost passed it by....im glad I took a second glance. Some very nice subtle custom touches. Does that make me a bike snob? Geez...

Time for this build to come out of Page 3 quarantine. Any updates?

Took some of my old builds out for a neighborhood ride today to get in the mood for this build.

Diggin' every one of those... this should be good.

When does this bike have to be done by??

Oy, 10 weeks into my lay-off and I’ve finally received unemployment assistance. I can breathe a little.

Started stripping frame:

Anyone want/need a slightly bent-up Husky headbadge? I’ll gladly mail it to you free.

Glad you are starting to get your money.
Now Git Ta Buildin!! :D

I need a more aggressive stripper. Citrus Strip is not cutting it.

Orange you glad I posted this update?

The yellow put up a heck of a fight. I think it was powder coat. Even aircraft stripper didn’t work. I sanded it.

Now it’s in primer. And the guard has speed holes
