We picked up a Hamilton Greyhound wagon over the weekend via El Torreón Swap Meet. I also got an old $10 blue Motobike frame that appears to have been repaired at some point. It came with a blue fork that probably doesn’t go with it.

I had an old rusty 28” truss rod fork so I threw the two together. Now I just need to come up with a wheel set.

 ...a $10 30's frame... :13:

Seriously excellent score...
Hard to tell what’s under the paint but I couldn’t pass it up. I just like this old frame geometry.
Any ideas on what company might have made it or what badge it might of had based on the frame construction?

Those type of joints on the intermediate bar are normally associated with Davis or Excelsior (Michigan)...but also show up on Shelby and Iver Johnson.

My barely educated guess would be Excelsior, and could be 20s.

edit: I think IJ would be easy to rule out as the serial number is usually at the top tube to seat mast juncture.

New answer...don't know . I believe Davis is out due to year and head tube angle. I mis-remembered Michigan City Excelsior, they have volcano joints not trumpet joints. I can't find a Shelby that matches, or an IJ.

New possibilities...Snyder, I can find plenty of dual trumpet joint intermediate bars, but not in as tall a frame as you have.

But, what I'm really starting to lean towards...Schwinn, '32 or earlier...also used trumpet joints and can find examples of the intermediate tube merging with the downtube at the headtube.

If the rear triangle measures out right for a 28", could be it.

Thank you for your help and input! You certainly have more insight than I do.
I did notice that the rear triangle on the blue frame is similar to my “LaidBack” build off bike.

Not as much tire clearance/width at stays so a pre ‘33 frame for 28” tires?
I’ve also noticed that the blue fork it came with looks almost identical in construction to my build off Schwinn bike, just less tire clearance and the closed fork ends.
Headbadge hole spacing at 2.20” or so.

I think that is it...your a Schwinn magnet .

I'm even more shocked/jealous, now...quite possibly a 30s, or even 20s, frame for $10 !!! :headbang:

:113:

edit - another bit of evidence that it's a Schwinn. I believe Snyders with the trumpet joints have a smaller diameter intermediate bar than the top bar... they are the same size on a Schwinn. Very cool .

I’d seen this chart previously and was trying to find it again. Thanks for posting it!
At this point I’ll go with 1930. Just wish it had a few more of it’s parts.

...yeah...but...$10! :D
Yah 10$ diamond in the rough = Future money pit...love the chase for parts though.
I currently have a choice of two forks. I have a 700c wheelset and tires, a couple of stems, various bars. Think I have one crank, couple of various chain rings. I’ll have to find a saddle, I have various grips. I don’t see trying to put it together with period correct parts, just a fun old rider, board track racer look or Pashley Guv’nor style.
First I’ll need to strip paint and see what might be hiding under the blue.

Playing with spare parts...unsure of how to mount front wheel with no slots in fork.

I did some mechanical stuff and lubrication for the old greyhound wagon. I added a couple of new bolts to stabilize the tongue a steering. When I took the front wheel assembly off I discovered some red color. Apparently the wagon was originally red and it faded away over time.
