Can anyone fill me in on this shifter? I am pretty sure the shifter itself is off a Raleigh Chopper, it's a 5 speed shifter. The cover does not seem to match as it has a third slot for something else to come through. I haven't been able to locate anything about it in my searches currently [IMG]

As I post this I just saw there was a chopper made with a 10 speed.

This 3+2 twin stick shift was used on 10 speed choppers with an SA S5 hub.... I'm pretty sure

What they look like without the plastic I don't know.

I've tried to find how the 10 speed was setup but I couldn't come across anything, mind you my efforts were limited lol. They will probably end up as display pieces or find their way to the sale pile

The cover alone could be worth a whole lot. That's holy grail chopperism.
I'm content with just the SA 3 speeds:D

ah, the 3+2 is 5 speed only. Thought it was a 10 speed with an S5 hub initially. Would've been interesting if it existed.

May have to sell the cover. It's cracked on the side but does no one any good hoarding it in my basement. I'd rather rare parts be in the hands of those who will use them

Is the third lever location for a drag brake?

I'm still wondering what shifter Bobby has. The gear indicator thingy is where I'm lost. Looks like it should be a 10 speed shifter.

Someone around here must know more about these.

It's a 5-speed rear derailleur with a double chainring yielding a total of ten combinations. The left stick selects the high or low range and the right stick delivers either 1-5 OR 6-10, depending on the left stick's position.

The shifter I have is two positions on the left and 3 on the right so I assume that's a 3+2 shifter.

    Thank you,

Of all the 5 speed Chopper shifters I've seen, only the 3+2 model has the 'mini gear indicator' (yellow background) just below the sticks, such the case would be in the OP.
However, the mechanism shows room for 3 controls. Is one absent ? There was a model made with a small and large lever but with a different style indicator.
The smaller control appears to be off center on the console.

Why are 3 controls present for a 10 speed setup with a freewheel? I can understand if a S5 were to be used because that hub is linked separately to both sides of the axle.

    I can't find any diagrams or internals of a 3 control :(

It's really one of the hardest things to figure out, I guess I keep the search going for now
