While I'm waiting for 24x1.75 rim to put on jerald slick tire. I went ahead paint stripped and sanded my frame and fork. I always had a thing for tall ape handle bar but still want it to be comfortable to ride. So my idea is use 27" fork with stem mounted under the fork to drop ape handle bar down to get it shoulder level. 24" definitely won't fit front. I'm still looking for 20" with 28 spokes to match rear wheel.

I have three donor bikes. I'm still brainstorming to mock up my bike. :D

Re: sears spyder customizing

Thanks. My goal is build it in gasser drag muscle bike style and still earn rat rod bike title. Who know? I might change goal later.

By the way, my girl already made fun of it. She call it grasshopper cuz it has long antennas and back shape and four legs. Lol. Might gonna call it grasshopper or not. Ha

Very cool idea on mounting the bars. Get ready for lots of imitators!
this idea is far from new .. but it is great

Re: sears spyder customizing

My 24x1.75 rim just arrived! Is there any good tutorial for moving old spokes and hub to new rim? My dad suggested use masking tape around the hub and rim and starting next to valve stem hole and marking it with numbers like #1 over hub to #1 on rim then next hole #2 under to #2 then lace them carefully and one turn tight all nipples and repeating one turn until all are evened tighten.

I'm sure It has been done many times before my build off 7 bike.

Cool! Where did u got that fully covered nut on top stem? I was thinking about use skull head shifter knob to cover that hole.

Look like I'm wrong about fitting 24" in front. Look like it's possible.

Hmmmm still debating. Is it that important to naming builds?

Re: sears spyder customizing

Not really important. Totally up to you.
Can't wait to see the next photos.

Re: sears spyder customizing

My sprocket is pretty much trashed. The rust is peeling chrome out and heavy rusty. I found 7" crank arm from my first bmx bike. It's not so pretty but will work. I'm looking for this sears five spokes sprocket. I'm not sure if this has 52 teeth. I also looking for 70's schwinn varsity crank arm. My second choice would be schwinn sting ray mag 52 teeth sprocket.
