Just found this thread. My Raleighs are buried at the moment. I have a 73 green sports, 73 green folder that was my work bike for a while and a chrome 66 sports dealer edition In need of total restoration. The chrome frameset is nice but the rest needs a lot of love. Thinking about stripping the 73 sports for its parts to put on the chrome frame for a future project unless I find another nice sports As a donor bike

Repost from this thread back in January of 2011. These were all made by Raleigh:
(Everything I posted back then was when I used tinypic)

Picked up this 1970 Raleigh Sports a few weeks ago.View attachment 111607 View attachment 111608 View attachment 111609
Had lots of rust and needed adjustments/tweaks.
Just about all of the rust came off with a lot of scrubbing.
Adjusted gears,brakes...new tubes and whitewalls.
Original Brooks saddle (B72) tip broke off but I saved
the bag. Rides really nice and going to be my daily rider.

Updated...B66 Saddle, Military saddle bag, Kiley Headlamp, rear rack, vintage bell.....
Brittanialloy pump,seat bag, Lucas cyclometer.....

That chrome frame is cool
If I cant find another nice donor bike, Plans are to strip the Green Sports and put the parts onto the chrome one. It wont be original but it will be nice. And its the only coaster brake three speed Raleigh wheel Ive ever seen So I wont use the front hand brake. The shifter will be the only cable. Hoping to get that done by the end of summer.

My Roadsters technically I have two of these but the other one is still unrestored. I plan to build a Watsonian sidecar for the other one and add an electric hub. these both belonged to friends who passed. Mitch restored his and Craig I built all my motorized bikes to take to car shows to get peoples attention so he could sell his little two strokes. Hence adding pedal assist and a side car to his. It was something he talked about.

Kate has two. She has the one with the Montreal summer Olympics sillyness on it and and top tier sport with the nicer wheels and details. She is a just a little spoiled. They are both her age

Can we get more pics of the "Olympic silliness" bike? I like that kinda stuff! Also like Unibroue!

If you are in MTL, we're nearly neighbors, I'm just across the border in Ontario

She had a Raleigh when she was a kid that got stolen so I got her another one. I have the downtube shifters here hanging on the car keys thing. She wanted thumb shifters like her daughters Bridgestone. It is a little dusty she rides it every single day

Here's my stable: First pic-left to right, 1956 Gazelle, 1971 Tourist Dl-1 Rod brake, 1974 Jack and Jill matched Tourist Dl-1 (followed by close ups) Last pic is a 1953 mens Hercules Churchill Deluxe and 1954 ladies Hercules Churchill Deluxe, both with rod brakes and full chaincases
