Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Last summer I bought this frame. It has the right size for my colleague. It's a 80ties handmade Koga Miyata frame. By the way, the name of the cat is Bert. Also I need to explain why the project is called "semster". The name of my colleague is Semir and I'm going to build a speedster. Combine these two and you have "semster".

How did my cat make his way into your pics?

I can't wait to see how this build turns out, I've been thinking about doing a light weight for a while.

It is masking time. Went for an asymmetric approach. I painted the right side of the fork and the left rear side of the frame black.

And its a wrap.

Took the frame inside where it can dry under better temperature. Next thing I am going to do is painting the lugs.

Also wheels and tires came in today. Went for a set of black 700c Weinmann dp18 wheels. Always nice for a reasonable price. Rear got a coaster break. And finally they got rid of the ugly big sticker on the rims. Now it is much more subtle. The tires are Hutchinson Nitro 2. I ordered two times 28-622. I received a 28 and 23. So the 23 I can send back. Also got the new stem.

Tonight I did some quick assembly. I placed the bottom bracket and headset.

On the transition from black to green I added an accent of white tape.

This weekend was assembly weekend. All went well until I wanted to place the rear wheel. The hub does not run smoothly. So I disassembled the hub completely. But everything looks right. After putting the hub back together I noticed that the dust cap behind the cog is too thick. It scrapes against the aluminum of the hub. Replacement is 1 minute work, but I do not have the right size at home. I have emailed the supplier of the wheel and they are going to send me the correct part. Despite the setback, I made good progress [emoji3]

Today I was home early from work. So I went into the workshop just to get some simple things done. I fitted the handlebar, front brake and bottle cage. The bike could use some color contrast next to the black and green. So I went for orange bar tape. The picture does not show it, but it's pretty orange. But the best addition is the decal I made. Wrote it by hand and scaned it, a friend of mine got a plotter and plotted it for me.

last things I have to do is mount the front brake lever and place the new dust cover behind the cog.

When the bike is ready I will shoot some final pictures with my good camera.
