Hey guys,
I just have a quick question for you.
Is there a difference in geometry between an older Schwinn cruiser frame like a 50's Phantom as compared to a brand new SSX? My brother has an SSX that he doesn't use and I would love to take it off his hands and make a low slung rat with a phantom style tank. The only thing is, his Schwinn seems a bit taller than the Phantoms I have seen online.

Thanks,
Jason

well i just checked whats left of my cruiser ss against my b6 and theyre almost the exact same size(about 1/8" difference in the bends) the tubing on the newer bikes is a little larger but i think whats giving you the impression of it being "bigger" is the forks on the newer bikes....
good luck and post some pics when you get it started

well i just checked my 2007 Schwinn product catalog...
and of course all the road bikes have geometry spec...
but no info for the cruiser...
however... the SSX is stated under frame...

"Schwinn 1955 Classic Cantilever Design,
Quality Kickstand, Fender and Rack Mounts"

hope this helps

btw the only reason I have the catalog would be the fact
that the only new bike i've owned since 1978 is the
2007 Schwinn Areosport...

and yes those are RED 24 x 3.0 Schwinn brick Typhoon cord tires...

Mike cool bike. How about some real pics instead of the doctored catalog pics. I would be interested in seeing more detail on how they filled in the tank area.
