Hi, guys. I'm new to this site, and am trying to figure out what to build for this summer. I have the frame to a 1938 Ladies Schwinn Excelsior, but I likely won't have all the parts necessary to do anything substantial to that, yet. So, I'm leaning toward a custom-ish Schwinn-based cruiser. The past two years, I've restored a couple of Schwinns. In 2009, I finished my 1970 3-Speed Stingray Fastback, and last year I restored a 1950 Panther that I had been riding around for several years as a rat with serious patina. I did everything including the paint and pin striping. The pics:

Loads of NOS stuff on the Fasty.

Rims, fenders, seat, sprocket, and tires aren't original. The rest, yes.

Do any of you guys know of a good site to get reproduction tanks? There used to be a vendor on ebay selling them for about $50. Now the cheapest is roughly $100.

The prices keep going up. That's what I've noticed, at least.

I got one of the $100 tanks from the guy on Ebay ("Best Schwinn Tanks made!", etc.) about a year or so ago. While I wasn't too happy about the price, I can tell you that the chrome was very good, and it really is a quality piece that looks great.

1974 Fastback, first year for the fastback to have the shifter on the handle bars. This bike normaly hangs in our dining room. I took it down, put air in the tires, road it around the block and took a picture.

I posted my re-pop stingray yesterday, but I finally got some parts today that I'd needed for its final transformation into a mini board track style bike.
