These bases are right down the road from my house.

They both have many buildings still standing from WW2, and some are still in use, like the hangars (from 1922) at Wheeler. That airfield is still the one they use for all the helos today.
It was an inferno in 1941 when most all the fighter planes were on fire.

It was a great day for bike riding, so I headed over across the road to Schofield Barracks. Here's a shot I took inside the museum.

The Museum is made of lava rock, from back around 1930.
