Rebuild advice - Schwinn Stingray

Just looking for some ideas here. I have a beat up Stingray that's been sitting around forever. It gets ridden, but the springer front end is bent (and the handling is wobbly), and it obviously needs a bit of rust removal, etc. I want to swap the front end for either a traditional set of forks, or something similar, just not liking the springer front end. Any other style opinions welcome as well, trying to decide whether to keep it traditional style or put a few mods on it like maybe a quasi-Strandie look.

Sick, thanks. My son and I are going to do the rebuild together, we are using the first bike as inspiration. I have a few bikes I can cannibalize those parts from. Greatly appreciated.

Not original Stringray (couldn't find one here in Europe when i was working on that build), but similar small cantilever frame. Also used it for a BMX build, it came out pretty sick in my opinion.
