More of that random motivation hit me today.
I had an old atlas trike, and one of those bolt on trike kits.... so what the heck.
I bolted the kit to the fork of the trike.
That gave me this.
I took it for the maiden voyage, and noticed the right front wheel had a wobble. About the same time, the right front dropped.
Here's what that looked like.
No problem, I can replace the cog.
But I ended up just laying it on the floor and pounded it flat, it works with a chain ring. Right?
Re-installed.
Then I realized what happened.
I had the trike kit on wrong, turns out if you apply to much torque to a coaster brake it can bend the cog.
So I flipped the kit, and bolted it back on.
I no longer have a place to put a basket up front, but it's rideable.
I learned this is not the way to build a pedal car, unless you're only driving straight.
Turning is terrible, it lifts up on three wheels. And the stem has to be really, really tight; or your handlebars twist when you turn.
Lessoned learned.
